Garden Committee Meeting Notes 9.11.2012 

Attendees: Andy Wilson, Julie Sidel, Dawn Castello, Paul Pfluke,
Emelia Miguel - Secretary
Eric Bitter - Lead
  • Top beds are production
  • Native garden
  • Lower beds are cut flowers and farthest bed is herbs for tea
  • Compost
  • Sheds

Projects to complete this year:

1) Compost Renovation
• Need to enlarge compost area to enable rotation to a 3 bin rotation system
• Need to work out system with Stephanie R to add kitchen compost
• Need separate waste baskets for paper towels

2) Solve Kikuyu grass problem
• Cut back kuku grass
• Cut back ivy

3) Sheds
• Organization of all sheds
• Add materials to material sheds
• Get more science equipment down into sheds

4) Tools
• Sharpen tools
• Organize

Volunteer Tasks
Adopt a classroom
Aiding teacher with student discipline
Record activities
Help organize materials and tools
For other task refer to original volunteer request shee


- Code was given to volunteers for garden and sheds

- When students are in garden, siblings should not be in garden

- Parents are responsible for young children in garden, not school

- Curriculum to be used will be Life Lab

Next Meeting: September 24th 3:15-4:30 in garden
