grass multi-use area

Enjoy playing rounders, football, croquet...?

Following the success of Phases 1 and 2 (new playspaces) last summer in 2011, the Parish Council's Oxton Recreation Ground sub-committee of Councillors and Parishioners ("ORG")  moved onto Phase 3 of improving the recreation ground space.

After much discussion since early that summer following the Village Plan exercise and lots of hard work doing the research and pulling all the information together into a comprehensive document, the proposal for this was approved unanimously by the full Parish Council at their November 2011 meeting.

The Parish Council provided from the Village Plan Fund the less than £1k net funding needed to create a safe and fun area on the grass recreation field for a variety of sporting uses -
the idea for which emerged from the outcome of the Village Plan process for 'Sports & Exercise' (Project 10a).

The aim was that this is sorted ready to be played on by early summer 2012.  You will just need bring along your own equipment.

As of end of March, progress was well under way...  and ORG meet at end of April to discuss last step practicalities.   As of end of May, grass was doing well but not quite ready for use yet.    Mid June and it is now ready for for its very first cut and sporting action!
