Neighbourhood watch

Neighbourhood Watch is a partnership where people come together to make their communities safer.  It aims to help people protect themselves and their properties and to reduce the fear of crime by means of improved home security, greater vigilance, accurate reporting of suspicious incidents to the police and by fostering a community spirit. The Ringmaster crime notification and communications system sends email alerts to those who request it.

How can you get involved in Oxton's Neighbourhood Watch and the Ringmaster community messaging alert system?

The idea is to form an information cascade whereby those who receive alerts pass the information on directly to their neighbours.  So the more contacts for the Ringmaster system we have, the stronger and quicker the cascade.

If you would like more information and/or to be added as a contact, please contact Ian.

A new crime-alert service for Nottinghamshire is running alongside Neighbourhood Watch:  Nottinghamshire Alert

Nottinghamshire Alert serves as both an information service and a reporting service.  Anyone who wants to join the Alert scheme can do so under the auspices of our own Oxton Neighbourhood

Watch scheme.

Each person who registers will get sent email and/or text details of crimes/incidents and can themselves report crimes/ASB/incidents directly on the Alert website.  This will then get distributed to whoever has signed up for the alerts under that scheme and the incidents will be highlighted to all on the website itself.

It's a great way of helping to make Oxton a safe place in which to live.

To join the Alert scheme, click on this link to the Nottinghamshire Alert page and then choose the "Register Now" tab and follow the instructions for sign up and preferences.
