Weather Update #2 - Flood Warning

NWS, Wilmington:

The National Weather Service in Wilmington has issued a Flood Warning for The Great Miami River near

Middletown from this afternoon to Friday morning. At 11 AM the stage was 10.0 feet. Flood stage is 12 feet.

Minor flooding is forecast. The river will rise above flood stage by late this afternoon and continue to rise to near

12.6 feet by this evening. The river will fall below flood stage by early Friday morning. At stages near 12 feet, Water

approaches structures south of Route 73 between Excello and the Great Miami River. This includes properties

along Oxford Street.

At 1148 AM EST, radar indicated thunderstorms with heavy rain moving through the advisory area. Additional

rainfall in excess of an inch will be possible over the next several hours. Pockets of heavy rain may lead to instances

of flash flooding, so heed all subsequent warnings should they be issued.

Minor flooding of low-lying and poorly drained streets, highways and underpasses will occur. In addition, farmland

near creeks, streams and drainage ditches will experience minor flooding.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
