Timothy L. Cann

For many years I did not know what I wanted to do for a career, only that it was not what I was doing at the time, I spent 27 years in customer services trying different courses in that time.

I then hit 40 years old and thought it was the end of the world! Never had a problem with 20, 30 or even 50 but 40, to me, was O L D, T H E E N D of fun, youthfulness and frivolity!

Then what I had already feared was confirmed, I had cancer.

To cut a long story short, after operations and chemotherapy:

I survived.

However, I felt I needed to do something I enjoyed for however long I had left.

I had dabbled in counselling courses in the 1980's and I realised I enjoyed them!

So I started my counselling Diploma, which led on to other courses and Auricular Acupuncture.

I qualified as a holistic counsellor from the Oxford & Cherwell Valley College and continued my development covering topics such as:

Drugs in the 21st Century, Working with Addictions, Ethical Practice, Wider Minds, Psychopathology in Psychotherapeutic Practice, Working with People who Self-injure, Reviewing Perversion, Introduction to Mindfulness Training, Working with people with Personality disorders, Schizophrenia, TA101 - The Official Introduction to Transactional Analysis, Emotional Freedom Technique Level 1 & 2, CBT for Depression, Oxford Christian Institute for Counselling on Bereavement.

I have worked with issues such as addictions, self injury, abuse (sexual, physical and psychological), career changes, redundancy, bereavement, life threatening illness and relationship issues and a variety of settings including a prison, a charity caring for the long term/terminally ill and my own private practice.

I also trained in Auricular Acupuncture, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Gua Sha from the College of Chinese Medicine in London.

Each are complimentary therapies that assists my clients with pain relief, stress management and personal appearance and with the counselling outer well being is just as important as inner.

I am a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors & Psychotherapists) and The Acupuncture Society and abides by their codes of ethics.

I am fully insured to practice both Acupuncture and Counselling.
