2nd Potluck a Great Success!

Hello time bank members.  I am writing to thank all of you who came to Our Time Bank Community Potluck this weekend.  What a great event!  Thanks for your energy and enthusiasm for Our Time Bank.  We had over 40 people in attendance.  Pretty cool!  Thank you, too, to those of you who volunteered for a number of time bank jobs and projects.

For those of you who weren't able to make it, we hope you can join us at the next one on Saturday, March 27 from 12-2.  Details to come.

Later this week, we will be recording your hours for bringing a dish, and for all of you who helped set up and clean up.  If you helped set up or clean up, please email me to let me know how much time we owe you.

I look forward to future events with all of you.

Our First Potluck

Hello Our Time Bank members and friends,


We had our first potluck on December 12, 2009 and it was a great success. So now, in addition to building community and having fun, we have another reason to join Our Time Bank:  Good Food!

Please save the date for our next one- Saturday, January 23 from 4- 6 pm (location to be determined). 


Our Time Bank has grown to 35 members since we launched on 11/11.  This is a fantastic start.  If you haven't yet joined, I hope you will consider doing so.  If you have joined, please take some time to look at the long list of "offers" and "requests," and try to make a trade with someone.  It's a great way to meet other members and get things done.
Additionally, you can help us spread the word in these ways:


  1. Print and distribute the attached flyers to folks you think might be interested.
  2. Tell folks about the next orientation on Saturday, January 23 at 3 pm
  3. Mark your calendar for Saturday, January 23, 4-6pm which will be our next potluck (preceded by a new member orientation)
  4. Email me with ideas for classes you might like to lead.  For example, one of our members, a professional organizer, is planning to offer a class on organizing paper files.  Please consider what you might like teach a group of people, if you are so inclined. 
  5. Email me about community/volunteer events you would like to lead to help non-profits in our community.  For example, do you know of a non-profit that would like a group of volunteers (us) for a few hours one weekend?  Like potlucks, this type of activity helps us get to know each other and to strengthen our bonds - while helping others in our extended community of Culver City, Palms and Mar Vista.
  6. Do you have a group of people you would like introduce to our time bank?  Let's schedule a time for you to gather then at your home and I will come and do an orientation just for them.
  7. Also, we are looking for people to lend a hand with the following (and, of course, receive Time Dollars for their efforts):
  • Help with our website
  • Help with membership administration
  • Plan and/or help out at the next potluck

One more request, before I sign off, if you have not yet posted your picture, please do so asap. Sometimes it's hard to remember names, but it helps to have a picture to connect with a name.  If you need help posting your pictures, email me - or better yet, check out our list of offers- there are folks willing to help.  Or, post a "request" on Community Weaver.
