Welcome to my homepage. My name is J. Alan Fink. I am married and have two children. I have been educating boys and girls in Iowa for more than thirty-four years with thirty years of experience in the Oskaloosa Community School system. I was assigned to Lincoln Elementary School where I taught fourth grade for twenty-two and one-half years and continued to teach fourth grade in our new elementary building. Since January 2005, all of Oskaloosa Elementary students have been attending school in a single, K-5 building with seven to eight sections of students per grade level.
While teaching in Oskaloosa, I coached high school wrestling as an assistant for five years. I have a Master of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from The University of Iowa. Much of my graduate work was done in the area of language arts. My professional license is a K-9 Educator with areas of concentration in reading and mathematics. I also have a K-12 Coaching Endorsement. I coached high school and junior high school boys for four years in football, nine years in wrestling, and one year in track.
My last day of teaching at Oskaloosa Elementary was May 24, 2012. I have spent more than half of my lifetime educating boys and girls of various ages in Iowa. I have retired from the regular classroom but continue reaching out to students through a second career as a photographer for Life Touch Photography. My second career keeps me in-touch with students, teachers, administrators, and parents across the State of Iowa. I continue to work on behalf of educators across the State of Iowa as a life member of the Iowa State Education Association and the National Education Association.
The other pages attached to this website are those that were organized by me during part of my final year in the classroom. I am leaving them attached as a reminder of my work as an educator in Iowa.
