This is a lecture-based course which focuses on an individual, specifically distinct artist: Rembrandt van Rijn, Marcel Duchamp, Pablo Picasso and Martin Kippenberger. Each session will serve as a stand-alone, in-depth exploration of life, work and contribution of each featured artist to the wider aesthetic discourse -- and unlike art surveys, we will not be focusing on art movements, or historic periods.

Miha Sarani is a visual artist and an art historian. Born and raised in Ljubljana, Slovenia, he received a BFA and an MA from the University of Washington. Miha’s work has been shown at fine art museums and galleries, featured in art journals and on music album covers. His large Koncentrik Painting series are owned and display at the University of Washington’s Mary Gates Hall. He lives and works in Seattle.
