Divine Service and Bible Study

"The Mass (Divine Service) is retained among us, and celebrated with the highest reverence." - Augsburg Confession, Article 24

Our Savior Lutheran Church offers the Divine Service twice each weekend:

Saturday at 6:00 P.M. and Sunday at 10:00 A.M.

During the seasons of Advent and Lent we pray Vespers each Wednesday at 7:00 P.M.

We sing the liturgy and hymns from Lutheran Service Book.

Our Savior Lutheran Church celebrates the Divine Service in a reverent and dignified manner, befitting a Lutheran congregation of the Conservative Reformation.  We follow the Historic Lectionary, a series of Bible readings used by Christians for hundreds of years, especially Blessed Martin Luther.

The Lord's Supper is offered at each weekend Divine Service. Communion is open to members of our congregation and to those who are members in good standing of congregations in fellowship with ours (e.g., the Lutheran Church--Missouri Synod, the Lutheran Church--Canada, American Assocation of Lutheran Churches, etc.). Visitors and those who have not communed from Pastor Juhl are asked to speak with the pastor before communing.

Those who wish to prepare for Holy Communion and membership at Our Savior are warmly invited to speak with the Pastor. He will gladly meet with you at your convenience and set up a schedule for instruction and spiritual formation, culminating in Baptism or Confirmation.  Please contact Pastor Juhl at 815-472-2829 or e-mail for further information.

We offer Sunday School and Adult Bible Study from September through May at 8:45 A.M. The children are studying the different parts of the Divine Service, from Confession and Absolution through the Benediction.

Tuesday evening Bible Study is a walk through the Augsburg Confession and The Apology to the Augsburg Confession. We meet in the church basement at 7:00 P.M.

Below is a picture of the interior of our church building decorated for Trinitytide. We would love to see you this weekend for Divine Service!
