Biblical Christianity

They continued steadfastly in the apostles' doctrine and communion, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers. (Acts 2:42 NKJV)

Our Savior Evangelical-Lutheran Church is a congregation steadfastly devoted to Biblical Christianity.

We take God's Word at face value.

We offer no gimmicks.

We offer forgiveness of sins, eternal life, and salvation.

Our Savior Evangelical-Lutheran Church is a congregation where you know you've been to church. When you walk out our doors, you will know you were in the presence of the merciful Triune God Who sent His only-begotten Son, Jesus Christ, to redeem the world from sin and from the power of the devil. You will know the Holy Spirit, working through the preaching of the Holy Gospel and the administration of the Holy Sacraments, is living and active among the children of God. Simply put, we are not a programmatic congregation (driven by organizations) but a congregation centered around the Means of Grace (preaching, baptism, absolution, and the Lord's Supper) and Prayer (both corporately in the Divine Service and individually in our daily lives as Christians).

What Do We Believe?

Our Savior Lutheran Church is a congregation of The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod. We are a confessional Lutheran Church. This means we are catholic (catholic means universal) but not Roman Catholic. We are evangelical (Gospel-focused) but not a part of the modern Evangelical movement. We hold that Jesus Christ crucified and risen again for the forgiveness of our sins (justification) is the very center and core of who we are. Our Lord comes to us to forgive us sins and give us Himself through the Word of God, preaching, baptism, absolution (forgiveness) and the Lord's Supper.

Below you will find various readings regarding our faith. Feel free to use them. But you are also invited to call 815-472-2829 or email our Pastor with any questions you might have.

The What About Series

Dr. A.L. Barry, President of The Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod from 1992-2001, wrote a very helpful series of pamphlets entitled the What About series. Ranging on topics from What About Christian Families to Baptism to Islam and everything in between, this series is a helpful summary of many of the doctrines of the Christian faith in an easy to use format.
