Organic Farming: a Research Perspective (ORGANIST)

Milan, Thursday, May 31, 2018

Organic farming areas in the European Union account for a low share of cultivated land, in spite of a growing demand for its products. The organic sector poses specific challenges to growers, where the reliance in management practices devoid of synthetic pesticides and fertilizers is a key requisite to match the guidelines. The ORGANIST workshop aims to address, in a scientific perspective, some key points of organic farming, particularly the availability of disease and pest resitant varieties. (official language: English)

The following topics will be addressed:

         1. The regulatory framework of organic farming
         2. Biocontrol of plant pests and pathogens
         3. Novel breeding tools
         4. The stakeholders' point of view
