Our Gracious Benefactors
You may be wondering what exactly is an organic vegetable garden or a co-operative? There are many interpretations for both terms. We define organic vegetable gardening as a form of gardening that relies on natural methods such as crop rotation , green manure , compost , organic matter , biological pest control , and manual cultivation to maintain soil productivity and control pests, while excluding the use of all synthetic fertilizers , synthetic pesticides, or any other unnatural means of agriculture. Our definition of co-operative is more fluid with the intention that as we evolve and grow our initiative remains flexible to our members needs , wants , and shared visions. At this early stage we define cooperative simply as working or acting together willingly for a common purpose or benefit and we hope to arrive at a jointly owned enterprise engaging in the production or distribution of goods or the supplying of services , operated by its members for their mutual benefit. What is our common purpose and how do we plan to benefit? At present our common purpose is to contribute to the cultivation of organic produce, herbs, and flowers to consume, share, or trade with our fellow members. The benefits of this are almost innumerable. Here are a few to contemplate....
Better Tasting Food - Healthier Diet - Reduce Your Carbon Foot Print - Learning - Save Money - Have Fun - Get Exercise - Promote Local Food Production - Create Beauty - Be Part of Positive Change - Meet New and Interesting People - Stop Poisoning Yourself With Chemical Pesticides - Help Sustain Environment - Reduce Stress - Live a Longer, Healthier, and Happier Life
How do we get from working together willingly for a common benefit to become a robust, jointly-owned enterprise engaging in the production, distribution and or supplying services for mutual benefit? With your help, your knowledge, your willingness to share, your willingness to learn, your passion, your ideas, and dreams.
What progress have we made thus far and what resources do we have? Presently, a small group of committed volunteers is dedicated to our success. We currently have several beds being organically prepared and a couple more taking shape. These beds lend themselves to full sun planting. We have additional land available to cultivate that is partial sun/full shade. We believe it is of the utmost importance to make use of all resources available. We are also fortunate to have the support of Bryantree.com contributing land, finances, and knowledge.
What resources do we need?
