Service Opportunities

The service committee positions listed below are currently open and are great opportunities to serve AA and the still suffering alcoholic.


Grapevine Chair (GVC) - Works with groups to share the importance of our Meeting in Print. Assists Group GVCs in their effort to share the Grapevine message in their Groups. One-year term, serves through November 1, 2019.

(1 year continuous sobriety is suggested, not required)


Portland Area Intergroup (PAI) Liaison - Works with the Portland Area Intergroup to share the message of AA within District 36. Attends monthly PAI business meeting for reporting to the District GSRs at the District GSR Business Meeting. One-year term, serves through November 1, 2019.

(1 year continuous sobriety is suggested, not required)


West Side Central Office (WCO) Liaison - Works with the West Side Central Office to share the message of AA within District 36. Attends monthly WCO business meeting for reporting to the District GSRs at the District GSR Business Meeting. One-year term, serves through November 1, 2019.

Cooperation with the Professional Community Chairperson (CPC Chair) – CPC seeks out venues to give simple presentations to professionals who will come into contact with active alcoholics. Two year term, serves through November 1, 2020.

(2 years continuous sobriety is suggested, not required)


Public Information Chair (PI Chair) - Seeks out and makes contact with public entities; schools, treatment centers, hospitals, legal services, charitable organizations, and other venues to carry the message. Two-year term, serves through November 1, 2020.

(2 years continuous sobriety is suggested, not required)


Treatment Facilities Chairperson (TF Chair) – TF makes contact with Treatment Centers and offers our assistance in carrying the AA message. Two year term, serves through November 1, 2020.

Individuals interested in these service positions are encouraged to attend the District 36 GSR Meeting held the second Tuesday of each month, 7pm, in the basement of St. Barnabas Episcopal Church 2201 SW Vermont Street, Portland, OR 97219.
