Orchard Hills ArtSmart Program
ArtSmart is a volunteer-driven art appreciation activity at Orchard Hills Elementary in Novi, Michigan.
Parent volunteers visit his/her child's classroom and share examples of artwork with the students, introducing them to important artists/art forms and encouraging the kids to think critically and express their ideas.
Portfolio materials, including large posters, are available for many artists. Parent volunteers are not expected to have any prior art knowledge! There are many resources at the Novi Library and online that are helpful when preparing an Art Smart presentation.
Time Commitment for an Art Smart Volunteer:
At home: ~1 hour
In class ~30 minutes (K-1st grade)
~45-60 minutes (2nd-4th)
