Corpus Christi Will host 2 Major Tournaments for the 2017-2018 School Year!

This week has been a very exciting week for Chess in the Coastal Bend!

First, the OCBCF was awarded the State Grade Level Chess Tournament.

Although the tournament is only a few months away, we decided this is our opportunity to show South Texas how awesome Coastal Bend Chess is!  Your Volunteer Board has spent the past several days securing a venue and creating the Registration Information and Link.

Very soon, we will make everything live so we can begin to take in registrations.  All registrations will be posted to a list via this website.  This way you can double check your grade, school, rating, and correct spelling of your child's name.  This will help us to make for a smooth start of the tournament!  I hope everyone registers early to avoid fees and entice other South Texas Schools to join us.

The dates for the Tournament is November 11-12th, 2017, with last minute registration on Friday night.   We are still debating on offering a bug house and Blitz, so if you are interested, please let us know!

Keep an eye out for more information via this website and our Facebook Page.

In addition to the state tournament, Dr. M. L. Garza Gonzalez Charter School has been offered the Bid for the Region 7 Championships!

We are very excited to help support one of our local schools!  The Region 7 tournament will be February 3rd, 2018 with round 1 starting at 10am at their school.  Of course, this school knows how to put on an amazing tournament with home cooked food in the concessions and amazing raffles!  We look forward to seeing everyone there!

A flyer is just being looked over and will be posted very soon with a link to online registration.  We will contact area hotels for a group rate for our friends in Laredo, Alice, Palacios, Kingsville, and other Region 7 towns a bit further away!

Both Tournaments will need volunteers from our awesome parents and families!  If your child needs volunteer hours and will not be participating in the tournaments, please message us via Facebook or email.
