The Oak Park and River Forest High School Orchestra is one of the oldest curricular orchestras in the nation, founded in October 1907.  The OPRFHS Orchestra still carries on the rich tradition of excellence with three curricular orchestras: String Orchestra, Concert Orchestra and Symphony Orchestra.
The orchestras perform four major concerts per year, with an international tour every other year.  Places recently visited by the orchestra include Austria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Italy, and Spain.  The orchestra hosts an annual Concerto Competition, where three winners have the opportunity to perform their work with the orchestra.  The Symphony Orchestra recently performed at the Illinois Music Education Association’ Conference in Peoria, Illinois in 2011.
