3 December - Energy

Most of the energy we use in our cars and homes comes either directly from fossil fuels like gasoline and natural gas, or from electricity produced using coal, gas, or oil. These energy sources are non-renewable - they are not replaced as we use them up. Using fossil fuels for energy also adds to air and water pollution.

Getting energy from renewable sources like the sun and the wind helps reduce our use of fuels that will run out, and cuts down on pollution too.

There are at least twenty houses in the City of Falls Church with solar panels on their roofs. Can you find one in your neighborhood?
