How to install MantisBT on Ubuntu 12.04 (LTS)?

This is a quick installation guide, on how to install MantisBT (Bug Tracker) on Ubuntu Linux (Version 12.04 LTS).

First open a terminal window and follow the instructions step by step.

In order to get the latest packages, you have to update your system with following command:
$ sudo apt-get update
and
$ sudo apt-get upgrade


Now you can start to install MantisBT by
$ sudo apt-get install mantis

During the installation procedure, you have to configure the MantisBT
Press ENTER on your keyboard and proceed


Enter the name of the your MantisBT-administrator and press ENTER on your keyboard to proceed

Enter the password of the MantisBT-administrator and press ENTER on your keyboard to proceed

Retype the previously entered password again and push ENTER on your keyboard to proceed

In this case, we allow Mantis to restart the webserver after installation by pushing ENTER

Push ENTER to finalize the installation.



Next, you have to install an MySQL-Server on your system by
$ sudo apt-get install mysql-server


During the installation procedure, you have to configure the MySQL-Server
Enter the new MySQL-administrator password and push ENTER on your keyboard.

Enter the password again and proceed by pushing the ENTER button.



Next, you have to install phpMyAdmin and configure on your system by
$ sudo apt-get install phpmyadmin
Choose apache2 and proceed by pushing the ENTER button on your keyboard.

Push ENTER to proceed.

Enter the password for the database's administrative user and proceed by pushing ENTER.

Enter a MySQL application password and proceed by pushing ENTER.

Enter the password again and push ENTER to proceed.

After the installation, your system has to be restarted by
$ sudo reboot



Finally, you can configure MantisBT with your favourite browser by accessing following web page: http://localhost/mantis
Enter the password and user name of your MantisBT administrator account and klick on OK to proceed.

Then, enter the Database Administrative Password, the Password (for Mantis Database) and change default password for Mantis 'administrator' account. Read the installation notes and activate the check mark (last row, right) and push the Install/Upgrade Database button.


Finally, your configuration is automatically checked every check should be marked green:
Scroll down and hit on the Continue link (at the left side, bottom).

Finally, you can login to your freshly set up of MantisBT

After you have successfully logged in, you can use your bugtracker
