What is Open Northampton?

Open Northampton is a project funded by the University of Northampton. The project supports the achievement of one of the institutional priorities – openness, by developing and releasing learning and teaching materials as open educational resources (OER).

What is an OER?

“Teaching, learning and research materials in any medium, digital or otherwise, that reside in the public domain or have been released under an open license that permits no-cost access, use, adaptation and redistribution by others with no or limited restrictions.” (UNESCO, 2012).

“Digitised materials offered freely and openly for educators, students and self-learners to use and reuse for teaching, learning and research.” (OECD, 2007).

All learning and teaching materials released from Open Northampton will be digitised, licensed under Creative Commons licenses, and deposited into open repositories such as JORUM.
