The Social Security Administration’s (SSA) Open Government Plan makes good progress in achieving the OGD requirements. The plan recognizes that in the future the agency must reach more people with fewer resources, and that innovative use of technology and process models will help this come to fruition. The plan benefits from SSA’s consultation while developing the plan with a number of internal, external, customer, and collaborator stakeholders. This consultation assisted the agency in recognizing a wide breadth of audience stakeholders.
It is good that SSA has set a goal to identify high value data, but the plan would be strengthened by a schedule to instill structure in the process. The plan would also benefit from better explanations of how SSA will realize the number of good ideas for initiatives referenced in the plan.
