Palisades Odyssey of the Mind Team Huber
We came in first place at the Pennsylvania Odyssey of the Mind State Finals in the "It's How You Look at It" problem (click here for the problem synopses)!!!! What amazing students we have at Palisades. Team Wieder also placed first and received the prestigious Ranatra Fusca award. Team Johnson placed third, so all three Palisades teams that competed at states came home with medals! Now we're off to the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals at Michigan State University from May 22nd-25th.
Now it's time to fundraise. We have a gofundme site if you're interested in making a contribution. You can get to the site here http://www.gofundme.com/1djnzw
You can also check out videos of our past long term problem solutions here.
Thank you to our past supporters!!!
What is Odyssey of the Mind?
It is an international educational program that provides creative problem solving opportunities for students from kindergarten through college. Team members apply their creativity to solve problems that range from building mechanical devices to presenting their own interpretation of literary classics. They then bring their solutions to competition on the local, state, and World level. Thousands of teams from throughout the U.S. and from about 25 other countries participate in the program. Why we need your help?
The team of 7 and their coaches work for months creating and practicing for these competitions. The team of students has to read through the problem, create a solution, build all the props and finally execute the entire solution for the judges. Unlike some schools, Palisades does not have a class for the students to work on this project. Therefore, the students spend nights and weekends getting together and creating. Also, the students need to fund their entire project and this is where we need your help! It costs $2,500 just to register for the World Competition. That cost does not include any traveling expenses. These students work so hard to get to the World competition level and they look to their local community to help provide financial support.
What a great way to show the students and families of the Palisades Community that you are committed to funding the exceptional efforts of a great group of students!
We are appreciative of any amount of donation!
