The Ontario Optimization Demonstration Team (ODT) is a group of municipal wastewater treatment practitioners that work together to promote wastewater treatment optimization in Ontario.
The ODT meets every six months to plan actions that demonstrate optimization best practices. Examples of actions undertaken by the group include:
testing new optimization methods at member treatment plants and reporting experiences to team members
hosting workshops on optimization best practices
collecting data from team members for benchmarking (e.g. on phosphorus removal)
creating tip sheets on optimization best practices
The overarching goal of the ODT is to increase uptake of optimization at municipal wastewater treatment plants in Ontario.
What is optimization?
Optimization of wastewater treatment is an approach to improving the performance and capacity of existing wastewater treatment infrastructure through process testing and control, and special studies.
A process control approach supported by the ODT is Total Mass Control.
