Help Disabled American Veterans

posted Feb 28, 2012, 10:13 AM by Cat Hammes
The Disabled American Veterans coordinate vans all over the state to drive veterans to appointments at the various VAMC and CBOC throughout the state. There are two vans down here that pick up vets and get them to Zablocki and the clinic in Union Grove. The vet calls and schedules then shows up at the closest pick up point, (there are multiple points in Racine Kenosha and UG) Ride Starts at All Saints at 6:30 and the driver makes whatever stops are necessary. They then proceed to the va and wait for all the people to be done with appointments and ferry them back. It is a volunteer position but you are actually an employee of the VA so they do background checks, physical etc. Even if the person can only do 1 or 2 days a month it would be great. Right now there is only one guy doing the UG route, like twice a week. I will be doing wed and every other thurs to Zablocki but we can still use help there. If you can pass the word on it would be great and much appreciated. Again my # is 262-902-0992 Thanks  Mike
