NM LOTTERY SCHOLARSHIP

March 1 Deadline (for FAFSA Submission):  Eligibility criteria below. Award varies each year; it is a percentage of tuition.  Contact college of choice for application process.

  • Resident of NM.  High school diploma from a NM accredited school.

  • Enroll at a public post-secondary educational institution in New Mexico within sixteen months of graduation.

  • Enroll in and earn 15 credit hours per semester at a four-year New Mexico public university OR enroll in and earn 12 credit hours per semester at a two- year New Mexico public community college.

  • First semester college GPA of 2.5.  Maintain a 2.5 GPA.

  • Students with disabilities may qualify for reduced credit hour requirements and additional semesters of the scholarship.

Deadline Varies (open until spots are filled):  UNM CAMP – At least 1 immediate family member who has spent a minimum of 75 days during the past 24 months as a migrant or seasonal farmworker.  Award of $4600 financial assistance for the 1st year.  Apply at https://unmcamp.unm.edu.

GENERAL SCHOLARSHIPS

December 30 Deadline:  Military Institute Scholarship Program – Minimum GPA and letters of recommendation are required, as well as admission to NMMI.  Award of 40% of expenses at NMMI. Apply at www.nmmi.edu.

January 4 Deadline:  GE-Reagan Foundation – Scholarship program for high school seniors who demonstrate leadership, drive, integrity, and citizenship.  Award is up to $40000. Receive more information and apply at www.reaganfoundation.org/scholarships.

January 15 Deadline:  Mensa Education and Research Scholarship – Essay of 550 words explaining career, academic, and vocational goals.  Award amount not disclosed. Apply at http://www.mensafoundation.org/what-we-do/scholarships/us-scholarship.

January 16 Deadline:  Diversity Advancement Scholarship – Scholarship for minority students interested in architecture.  Criteria: US Citizen, 3.0 GPA, enrolling in an Architecture Degree Program. Award of $20,000. Apply at https://www.weareteachers.com/scholarships-minority-students-steam/.

January 18 Deadline:  J.F. K. Profile in Change – Essay contest (Topic:  Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a U.S. elected official who served during or after 1917, the year John F. Kennedy was born. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level).  Cash awards up to $10,000.  Apply at www.jfklibrary.org/essaycontest.

February 15 Deadline:  Blacks at Microsoft Scholarship – Scholarship for minority students of African descent with a 3.3 GPA, interested in technology.  Award of $5,000. Apply at https://www.weareteachers.com/scholarships-minority-students-steam/.

February 1 Deadline:  NMAA Foundation Scholarships – Scholarships will be awarded to students in six different categories:

  • Compete with Class - sportsmanship

  • Extraordinary Participation – excellence in academics, athletics, and activities

  • Dan & Lucille / Gray Gladiator Athletics – excellence in academics and athletics

  • Activities – excellence in academics and activities

  • Mario Martinez Memorial – excellence in academics and multiple athletics programs from class A-2A schools

  • Le Richards / Francis Walsh Spirit – excellence in academics and Cheer / Dance

February 1 Deadline:  Elks National Foundation Legacy Award – US citizen.  Applicants will be judged on scholarship and leadership.   Must be either a child or grandchild of an Elks member. Award of $4000.  Apply at http://www.elks.org/enf/scholars/.

February 15 Deadline:  Flavorful Futures Scholarship – Eligibility includes 2.5 GPA.  Celebrates a student’s individuality, creativity, and communication of future goals.  Award of $5000. Apply at www.flavorfulfutures.com.

February 15 Deadline:  AFA Scholarship – Essay contest on the impact that Alzheimer’s Disease has had in your life.  Award of $500 to $5000. Apply at www.youngleadersofafa.org.

February 15 Deadline:  National Co-op Scholarship Program (WACE) – Eligibility criteria include:  GPA of 3.5, apply at and meet merit criteria at one of nine institutions listed on the application, complete a one-page essay.  Co-op education includes a partnership of classroom studies and work experience. February 22 Deadline:  New Mexico Credit Union Education Foundation Scholarship – GPA of 2.8 and letter of recommendation.   Apply at www.sfcunm.org/nmcuef-criteria/.

March 1 Deadline:  NMEC Scholarship – Scholarship selection is based on the student’s desire to create a better NM through educational attainment.  An essay is required (Topic: How does higher education play an important role in the future of NM?) Award of $1000. Apply at www.nmeaf.org/nmec.html.  

March 1 Deadline:  Create-A-Greeting Card Scholarship – Create a greeting card using photography, graphic design, or fine arts.  Award of $10000 to winning design. Read contests rules at www.GalleryCollection.com/greeting-cards-scholarship.htm.

March 1 Deadline:  1620 Scholarship – Scholarship requirements include US citizen and plan to attend an accredited post-secondary vocational school, community college, college, or university.  Essay required. Award of $1620. Apply at http://www.nmmayflower.org.

March 8 Deadline:  Sparx Lorenzo Antonio Foundation Scholarship – GPA of 2.5 and financial need are requirements of this scholarship.  Award of $1000. Apply at http://sparxlorenzoantonio.org/english/application-forms/.

March 8 Deadline:  Community Foundation of Southern New Mexico Scholarships.  32 scholarships with varying criterial and award amounts. Access additional information and apply at http://www.cfsnm.org.  

March 11 Deadline:  Jiffy Lube – 500 word essay required.  Two awards of $1500 and One award of $5000.  Apply at www.yourturn2apply.com.

April 2 Deadline:  Walmart Associate or Walmart Dependent Scholarship:  Employed by Walmart of dependent of a Walmart employee.  Apply at www.walmartfoundation.org/scholarships.

April 15 Deadline:  Women in STEM Scholarship – Scholarship opportunity for women pursuing a degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Math career.  Awards of $3000. Apply at https://thebhwgroup.com/scholarship.

May 1 Deadline:  1800Wheelchair.com Scholarship:  Submit a visual poem on the theme of overcoming a personal challenge.  Award of $500. Apply at https://www.1800wheelchair.com/scholarship/.
