GENERAL

National Ombudsman Resource Center - Provides support, technical assistance and training to the 53 State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs. This website has plenty of useful resources that you might find helpful in your work as an ombudsman.

Ombudsman Support - A great set of documents related to key ombudsman topics, best practices used by ombudsmen around the country, and additional relevant resources.

NORC Library - Contains government reports, Federal/State laws and regulations, research and other resources and reference documents related to the Ombudsman program.

Robert's Rules - This web page contains charts of the common motions used in Robert's Rules, and a document with frequently asked questions (FAQ) about Robert's rules that are pertinent to Ombudsmen.

AHCA Training - This web page page contains two PowerPoint presentations that were given by AHCA to Ombudsman Program staff at the July, 2012 Quarterly Meeting in Altamonte Springs, FL. The first PowerPoint explains AHCA's Assisted Living Facility Resident Centered Survey Process. The second provides information about AHCA's Quality Indicator Survey (QIS) carried out in Nursing Homes.

Eden Alternative The Eden Alternative is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to transforming long-term care environments into habitats for human beings that promote quality of life for all involved. 

Ideas Institute - The IDEAS Institute provides solutions that improve the lives of older adults through the conduct of rigorous applied research that examines the therapeutic potential of the environment—physical, social and organizational—as it relates to frail and impaired older adults. 

Greenhouse Project Videos - Here's a list of videos that provide excellent examples of how one organization attempts to de-institutionalize long-term care facilities and restore individuals to a home in their community.
