The library offers students and staff a resource collection to assist with classroom instruction and projects. Materials include print, non-print, and on-line resources. Several of the on-line databases available are provided through membership in the MA Library System.
The library provides instruction for grades 6-8. Students receive instruction towards research strategies, information literacy, and learning about different types of young adult literature. All lessons are aligned with grade level curriculum standards through the Massachusetts Department of Education Curriculum Frameworks and the American Library Association's "Information Literacy Standards for Student Learning."
Four desktop computers are located the library along with a Chromebook cart for classes. Only school-licensed programs are provided. Access to the internet is bound by the Gloucester Public Schools Student Internet Acceptable Use Policy. Computers are configured for online research, assignments with reserved and specialized software, and the library’s catalog.
A special thank you to the Cummings Foundation for providing the O'Maley Library Learning Commons a $1,000,000 grant to update the library space into a learning commons with new furniture, technology, and other resources for the Gloucester community to use.
