Bicentennial Celebration Weekend is Coming!

On the weekend of October 6th through 8th 2017, Olivet UMC will celebrate 200 years of Methodism in Coatesville. From the humble beginning as the Methodist Society, which met in a rented school house at the corner of 3rd Avenue and Harmony Street, to our present location at 3rd Avenue and Chestnut Street, Olivet has played a significant role in doing God’s work in the community of Coatesville and beyond.

Pastor Johnson E. Dodla has now joined a long line of spiritual leaders to minister to the generations of the faithful at Olivet. God has blessed us with many excellent pastors over the past 200 years and Olivet has sent numerous sons and daughters to serve God in various capacities around the world.

Some of the activities allow members and friends of Olivet to participate directly in celebrating the “Generations of Faith” here at Olivet while others provide the opportunity to purchase
limited editions of mementos of this special occasion. Pre-order forms are provided to purchase luncheon tickets, special mementos, and a list of events to help you plan for your participation in the anniversary weekend’s events.

“Project 200” provides you an opportunity to demonstrate Methodists at Work in our community and to help enhance the beauty of our sanctuary.

We hope you will plan to join us at some or all of the 200th anniversary week activities and help us celebrate 200 years of God’s work in Coatesville.

  • Children’s Sunday School Children’s Sunday School will be bringing the traditions and fundamentals of our normal church service to the children this fall. Our goal is to build a foundation in the students and grow a connection with between the church and the children. Instead of sitting in service with the adults and going through the motions, we want to explain what and why we do and say certain things. We will be breaking down what being a Christian, Communion, The Apostles Creed, Baptism, and The Lord’s Prayer are and what they mean to us.
