News from Music and Worship Committee…

Sunday, Nov. 12 following worship, we will be burning our papers with sins from the past year written on them in the little chimnea outside of worship.  Come to worship this day to send your past in smoke to our God and find cleansing renewal for the upcoming new year.

Mark your calendars!  Sunday, Nov. 26, Sharon Harfman from Amigos de Guatemala will be with us in worship to give us an update on the progress of the construction of the clinic as well as to sell some handmade items from Guatemala!!  Just in time for Christmas gifts!!  She will be selling them cash and carry before and after worship.  Tell your friends to join us!

As you consider beautifying our Sanctuary with flowers for 2018, we want you to know that you have options.  You can continue to place real flowers from George’s Greenhouse, or you can opt to place one of our lovely seasonal silk arrangements on the altar.  You won’t get to take the flowers but you will make the same donation to the church as you would for real flowers.  The donations will be put into a fund to fix and protect our stained glass windows.  If you have any questions, feel free to speak to Pastor Lori, Darlene Schmeltzle or Susan Jacobs.  Thanks in advance for beautifying our church.

White Gifts will once again be collected for the young adults (ages 12 - 17) at Bethany Ministries. The white gift service takes place on Sunday Dec. 10 at 10:15 a.m.  at our church.  Please only wrap your gift in white paper or not at all.  Bethany can only use NEW items to give to the students living there.  During worship, you will be instructed to come forward to share your gift while our young people will place them under the tree.  This has always been a very meaningful and wonderful part of our Advent celebration.  Wish list from Bethany is attached with this newsletter. Is anyone willing to take our white gifts to Bethany Children's Home in Womelsdorf during the week of Dec. 11 - 15 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m.???

We are off to a wonderful start for the 2017-2018 school year. Mrs. Yeakel, Miss Deb and Miss Judy have been having fun with our largest 2 year old class to date. Mrs. Yeakel and Miss Liz are  enjoying seeing the children in the 3's and Pre-k classes back this year and getting them into the school year routine.

We would like to thank everyone who supported our successful Apple Dumpling Fundraiser in October. We love that you support our school throughout the year, and can't thank you enough for always having big hearts and faith in our school. We will be having a pie sale in March for Easter!

In October, the 3's and Pre-k classes visited The Savidge Farms Pumpkin Patch. It has become a wonderful tradition for the Village School every fall as we start off the new school year. Fun was had by all.

October is Fire Prevention and Awareness month. The Pre-k class visited the Emmaus Fire House and the 3's received a visit from the Upper Milford Western District Fire Company.

As part of our Literacy Through The Arts Program, Miss Lily from Allegro Dance in Emmaus, will be visiting the 3's and Pre-k classes. The children always have fun when Miss Lily comes to the Village School and can't wait for the next time that she comes!
