Natural Home Remedies to Regulate Hormones and Promote Thyroid Health

There are two thyroid conditions one being an underactive thyroid and the other being an overactive thyroid. Hyperthyroid is overactive. 
Hypothyroid is under active. 
Thyroid disease is one of the most common health problems today. 

Foods  for Hypothyroidism and Hyperthyroidism 

1. Coconut Oil

This oil contains fatty acids that help to improve thyroid function. It stimulates the metabolism and boosts energy. 

2. Apple Cider Vinegar
It's believed that Apple cider vinegar aids in the detoxification of the body restoring acid and alkaline balance.  

3. Fish Oils
Good for increasing thyroid hormone uptake and maintaining a healthy functioning thyroid. 

4. Kelp
Kelp is a seaweed rich in iodine and other essential minerals needed for a healthy thyroid function. Hypothyroidism is a deficiency of iodine. Not recommended for autoimmune thyroid problems for it may worse condition. Consult a doctor before taking kelp supplements. 

5. Vitamin D

Vitamin D deficiency is linked to several autoimmune diseases such as thyroid disease. Getting out in the sunshine is a great way to absorb vitamin D required by the body. 

6. Guggul 
This gum resin comes from an Indian tree called Commiphora Mukul. Studies show an active ingredient called guggulsterone in gum resin that may help in the treatment of hypothyroidism by stimulating function. Consult a doctor before taking supplement due to its effect on birth control pills, and beta-blockers, and other medications. 

7. Brazil Nuts
A handful of Brazil nuts can provide the recommended amount of selenium which is an important antioxidant that's essential for hormone conversion. 

8. Shellfish, Fish, Liver
Foods contain selenium which is an important antioxidant that's vital in the conversion of T4 to T3 hormone. A thyroid hormone, the body, needs to be healthy. 

9. Turmeric
This incredible root has many medicinal properties. Turmeric is an anti-inflammatory, reduces tumor growth, aids in detoxing the liver and, as a result, proper thyroid hormone conversion. Make a turmeric tea by adding 1/2 teaspoon ground turmeric to one cup hot water and a bit of lemon juice. Add raw honey if desired. 

10. Cod Liver Oil

If you have thyroid issues, raw vegetables may 'not' be the best choice, especially kale. Cruciferous vegetables contain goitrogens which may disrupt thyroid function. Cook all cruciferous vegetables such as kale, cabbage, Brussels sprouts, broccoli, and cauliflower. 

13. Gluten Free
Thyroid issue is almost identical to gluten. Eating gluten can increase autoimmune attacks on the thyroid. Consider eating gluten free foods.
