Oily Hair Quick Tips and Tricks!

Shampoo your hair daily to remove excess oils and don't apply conditioner to the roots of your hair 
only the ends to keep them hydrated. Avoid brushing throughout the day this will carry oils from the scalp down through the hair. 
For a quick mid-day sprinkle your hair with baby powder to absorb excess oils and add volume to your hairstyle.  

1. Aloe Vera Gel
Ingredients: Aloe Vera Gel, Lemon Juice, Shampoo

Mix 1 teaspoon of aloe gel with 1 tablespoon lemon juice and 1 cup shampoo. Massage mixture into hair and scalp then rinse with cool water. Aloe gel will naturally condition the hair while removing excess oil.


2. Alcohol Rinse 
Mix a shot of any clear alcoholic beverage with 2 cups of warm water and rinse through hair leaving on for a few minutes before rinsing out with cool water. The alcohol will wash oils out of hair. 

3. Beer 
Rinse one cup of flat beer through hair leaving on for a few minutes then rinsing with cool water. Beer has a drying effect that removes oil and cleans the scalp.

4. Cornstarch 
Sprinkle a little cornstarch into dry hair and massage into scalp. The cornstarch will absorb excess oils. Great remedy for a quick cleanser during the day. 

5. Egg
Ingredients:  Egg, Lemon Juice

Beat one egg and add to 1 tablespoon lemon juice then apply to wet hair and massage for several minutes then rinse with cool water. Egg and lemon juice remove excess oil and conditions the scalp and hair. 

6. Lemon Juice 
Mix one cup of lemon juice with water and rinse through hair leaving on for a few minutes then rinsing off with cool water. Lemon is a natural astringent that will remove excess oils. 

7. Vinegar
Ingredients:  White or Apple Cider Vinegar

Vinegar is a natural astringent that will remove excess oils from your hair without stripping vital nutrients. Combine 1/2 cup of water with 1/4 cup vinegar and rinse through hair. Repeat treatment daily or when needed.

8. Herbal Shampoo
Ingredients:  Dried Yarrow, Dried Peppermint, Fresh Lemon Peel

Pour into a pot 1/2 cup of water, all herbs and chopped lemon peel cover pot and bring to a boil. Remove from heat and steep for 30 minutes. Strain and pour into a bottle then add 2 tablespoons of unscented natural shampoo and use solution to wash hair. Store remaining mixture in refrigerator up to one month.  

9. Vinegar Herb Rinse
Ingredients:  Dried Peppermint, Dried Lavender, Juniper Berries, Apple Cider Vinegar

All these ingredients are natural astringents that will gently absorb excess oils in the hair. Steep 1 tablespoon dried peppermint, 1 tablespoon dried lavender, 1 tablespoon crushed juniper berries in one cup of apple cider vinegar. Strain then pour into a bottle. Add one tablespoon of the solution to one cup of water and use as a rinse after shampooing. 

10. Baby Powder
Oily hair can get weighed down during the day, so sprinkle a bit of baby powder onto scalp and  gently massaging through hair for a quick oil absorbent lift during the day. 

11. Tea 
Brew some tea and dilute with water then rinse through hair leaving on for a few minutes then rinsing out. Tea contains tannic acid, which is a natural astringent that will reduce oils in the hair.
