Home Remedies for to relieve an Upset Stomach and Nausea

There are various causes for an upset stomach some of which are motion sickness, pregnancy, 
an adverse food reaction, alcohol indulgence, tension, or a headache to name just a few. 
Avoid drinking caffeine or alcohol and try these old time remedies for relief. 


1 Almonds

Eat a few almonds to settle an upset stomach. Properties within almonds help to sooth an upset stomach and nausea. 

2. Baking Soda 
Mix one teaspoon of baking soda with one cup warm water and drink to reduce stomach acid reducing upset and nausea. 

3. Brown Rice 
Eat some brown rice to settle upset stomach and diarrhea.   

4. Chamomile Tea 
Drink chamomile tea to settle an upset stomach.                                     

5. Clear Fluids
Drink water, sports drinks, clear broth, or eat popsicles and jelly. These are easier for the stomach to absorb. 

6. Ginger 
Drink a natural herbal tea with a bit of powdered ginger mixed in to soothe an upset stomach and relieve nausea.    

7. Mustard 
Ingest one teaspoon of plain yellow mustard to help ease nausea. 

8. Acupressure
There are acupressure wrist bands for relieving nausea. Have someone apply pressure on the inside of your each wrist about two inches above cease and between tendons.      
If alone, apply pressure yourself alternating between each wrist for a minute or two.  

9. Peppermint or Spearmint 
Drink peppermint or spearmint tea or pop a piece of candy or gum to soothe stomach and nausea. Mayo Clinic supports claim that a cup of herbal tea with peppermint or spearmint is good for indigestion.                                       

10. Peppermint Oil 
For quick relief inhale peppermint oil to ease nausea discomfort. 

11. Yogurt 
Eat some plain yogurt to settle an upset stomach. The bacteria found in yogurt will help to settle stomach and relief nausea. 

12. Candied Ginger
Ginger is a proven anti-nausea herb. Chew a piece of candied ginger root to ease nausea. 

13. Lemon
Mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice into a six-ounce glass of water and drink to ease an upset stomach and to relieve heartburn. 

14. Ginger Tea
Purchase ready made ginger tea or make it yourself. Grate 1 tablespoon of fresh ginger root and steep in 1 cups boiling water for 10-15 minutes strain then drink. For powdered ginger just add 1 teaspoon into 1 cup hot water. 

15. Olives 
Motion sickness can produce excess saliva which can cause nausea. Olives contain a compound called tannins, which dries your mouth helping to soothe your stomach. Eat a few olive at the onset of symptoms.
