Kidney Stone Prevention Remedies
Drink Water!

Kidney stones are mineral deposits that form in the kidney.
Approximately 10 percent of people develop kidney stones at some point in their life. 
Stones may be present for years and never produce symptoms, but when they grow too large, they can
block the flow of urine through the ureter and can be very painful. Here are a few home remedies 
that may help to prevent kidney stones from forming. It's always advised to consulting your doctor before any treatment. 



                               
   Kidney Stone Prevention Tips

1.
 Drink! Increasing your fluid intake should be the first step. 
Six to eight glasses a day of water a day should be the minimum.       

2.
 Don't eat large amounts of fruits and vegetables! 
Yes, they do provide lots of vitamins and nutrients; however, they also provide calcium oxalates. 
                       So it's recommended to go easy on these foods if you have a tendency toward kidney stones.

A moderate diet of meat products. 
Animal protein can accelerate the formation of uric acid and calcium in the urine which may cause stones. 

4.
Other foods that may cause stones are anchovies, herring, mussels, mackerel, sardines, shrimp, beer, liver, sweetbreads, and wine. 
High-protein diets should be avoided.

5.
 Avoid calcium-based antacids. 
Overuse may contribute to kidney stones. 




Kidney Stone Prevention Foods and Drinks



1. Cranberry Juice
A cranberry supplement may help, but it's recommending drinking juice for more favorable results.                


2. Fiber
Make sure you get plenty of fiber in your diet. Incorporate some bran flakes they're a great source of healthy fiber.                
     
                                                                    
3. Whole Wheat 
Add some whole wheat bread into your diet it is high in magnesium which helps to prevent stones.    
    
                      
4. Limit Salt Intake
Try not to consume more than 2 grams of sodium a day.
                                                                                                                                                                                                           

5. Carrots
Carrots are high in vitamin A which can help keep kidneys healthy. Consuming large amounts of winter squash, broccoli, sweet potatoes or pumpkin can help to prevent kidney stones.          
                                                                  
                                    
6. Chicken
Contains high amounts of vitamin B which can help to prevent stones.                        


7. Milk
Not getting enough calcium in your diet can cause the body to produce more oxalate that can cause kidney stones. Increasing intake of milk can help to avoid this risk. Recommended daily intake for adults is 1000-1200 mg, about 3 cups.                     
                                     

8. Vitamin A
This vitamin is essential in maintaining your urinary tract.        

                                              
9. Vitamin B6
Believed to help lower oxalate levels in the blood.        

                                                                
10. Lemon
Citric acid is present in lemon which helps to break down calcium-based kidney stones. Drinking 2-3 glasses of water with a few drops of lemon juice is believed to help. (I've been drinking this for the past year and so far so good. Knock on wood!)




Beneficial Drink Remedies


Ingredients
Lemon Juice, Organic Olive Oil, Mineral Water
Instructions: Mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice with 1 tablespoon of organic olive oil and 8 oz glass of mineral water. 

Drinking fluids help to prevent and reduce kidney stones from forming by flushing system. The acidic properties of lemons help to prevent and dissolve stones. 



Ingredients
Lemon Juice, Raw Apple Cider Vinegar, Mineral Water
Instructions: Mix 1 tablespoon lemon juice with 1 tablespoon organic raw apple cider vinegar and 8 oz mineral water. 

Drinking a combination of lemon juice and vinegar will help to flush the body of the potential stone formation. 



Ingredients
Dried Nettle Leaf, Water
Instructions: Mix 2 tablespoons of dried nettle leaf with 1 cup hot water. Steep for ten minutes and then strain. 

Nettle has been used for medicinal purposes for hundreds of years. It's a perennial anti-inflammatory plant native to Europe. Nettle is believed to help reduce osteoarthritis pain, hay fever, benign prostatic hyperplasia and prevent kidney stones.

Ingredients
: Celery, Apple, Orange, Lemon
Instructions: Mix in a blender or juicing machine 5 stick of celery with 1 large apple, 1/2 peeled orange, and juice of a 1/2 lemon.

Instructions: Mix in a blender or juicing machine 2 apples, 2 celery sticks, 1/2 peeled orange, handful fresh spinach, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/2 inch grated fresh ginger root.

Instructions: Mix in a blender or juicing machine 2 large apples, 1 peeled orange, 2 celery sticks.

Apple, Celery, Orange, Cucumber, Kale, Lemon, Ginger
Instructions: Mix in a blender or juicing machine 2 apples, 2 celery sticks, 1/2 peeled orange, 1/2 peeled cucumber, 1/2 cup fresh kale, juice of 1/2 lemon, 1/2 inch grated fresh ginger.
