Brittle Nail Remedies

1. Fatty Acids
For brittle flaking nails eat more foods with fatty acids such as fatty fish, flaxseed oil and flax seeds. 

2. Petroleum Jelly
Rub petroleum jelly on fingernails and cover with thin cotton gloves.

3. Non-acetone Removers
Avoid Acetone nail polish removers they're extremely drying use non-acetate based removers which don't dry out nails.              

Tea Tree Oil: Try tea tree oil to kill nail fungus. Tea tree oil is a powerful antiseptic that when applied twice a day can kill nail fungus and whitens fingernails. Change your socks periodically if feet sweat to keep the area dry. 

 Apply cornstarch periodically to absorb moisture and to keep feet dry.   

Remedies to Whiten Fingernails

1. Lemon or Lime: Rub nails with lemon or lime juice to whiten nail beds. Repeat daily.    
2. Peroxide and Baking Soda: Mix 1 tbsp. peroxide with 2 1/4 tbsp. baking soda and leave on for several minutes.     
3. Denture Cleaners: Drop denture cleaning tablet into a glass of water and soak nails for 5-10 minutes.         

4. Whitening Toothpaste: Using a nail brush with whitening toothpaste gently scrub nail bed to remove stains.         

Reason for White Spots 

Zinc: White spots may be a sign of zinc deficiency. Eat more nuts, root vegetables, whole grains, meat, and shellfish.      


Extending Manicure Tricks


 Soak nails in white vinegar for 5 minutes prior to polishing for a longer lasting polish.                        

Elmer's Glue: For a perfect do-it-yourself polish job apply Elmer's glue on your cuticles prior to polishing nails then peel off the glue when finished to reveal spotless cuticles.         


Remedies for Stronger Nails 

Almond Oil: Rub almond oil on nails and cuticles for stronger nails. 

Olive Oil: Rub olive oil on nail beds and cuticles for stronger healthier fingernails. 

Cuticle Care Remedies  

1. Olive Oil: Apply olive oil with a Q-tip onto cuticles and massage in until completely absorbed. Helps to get rid of hangnails, strengthens and moisturizes nail beds.         
2. Vinegar:
 Soak nails in white vinegar for 5 minutes to soften cuticles.
