Natural Home Remedies for relieving the Common Cold

Remedies to help reduce symptoms of a common cold, sinus congestion, sore aching muscles, and scratchy throat. 

Drink Remedy for Common Cold
Lemon Juice, Brandy, Honey, Glycerin
Instructions: Mix 4 tablespoons of lemon juice with four tablespoons brandy, four tablespoons honey, and four tablespoons glycerin. 
Drink mixture hot or cold to help reduce cold symptoms. Helps to relieve a stuffy nose, coughs and other symptoms of a common cold. 

Flu Shot Drink Remedy
Lemon Juice, Garlic, Ginger, Pineapple Juice
Instructions: Squeeze out the juice of 6 fresh lemons and mix with one clove garlic, two teaspoons grated fresh ginger, 
3 cups pineapple juice and 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper. 
Store in refrigerator drinking 1-4 cups per day until flu symptoms are gone. 

Remedy to Relieve Cold Symptoms
Thyme Tea
Instructions: Use one sprig of thyme for a large 6 oz cup. Pour boiling water over spice and steep for about 2-5 minutes and add honey, if desired. 
Drink 3-4 cups a day between meals or on an empty stomach to relieve symptoms, soothe your stomach and to relieve cold or flu symptoms.  

1. Chamomile
Drinking chamomile tea helps to soothe the stomach and reduce congestion. 

2. Echinacea
Start taking Echinacea at the first signs of a cold to help prevent and treat a cold or flu symptoms. Recommended on the Dr. Oz show. 

3. Epsom Salt Bath
Add a 1/2 cup of Epsom salt to bath water and soak to reduce soreness and aches associated with colds.  

4. Ginger
Steep a few slices of ginger root in hot water and drink to soothe a sore throat and reduce coughing. 

5. Garlic 
Boil some garlic cloves making a garlic soup and drink mixture. Garlic helps to boost the immune system.  Medicinal uses for Garlic! 

6. Humidity
Turn on the humidifier! Viruses thrive in dry conditions and also contributes to a stuffy nose and scratchy throat. 
Adding moisture to the air will help relieve symptoms. 

7. Lemon
This citrus fruit is loaded with vitamin C, which helps the body's immune system
Add some lemon juice into tea or a cup of hot water to build your resistance and speed up healing. 

8. Onion 
Steam an onion then wrap it in cloth and place on your chest. The steamed onion will help to relieve congestion and clear sinuses. 

Avoid Catching 
Frequent Hand Washing!

9. Peppermint
Peppermint is believed to dilate bronchial tubes to help you breath easier. 
So stock up on peppermint candy and peppermint oil. Moisten a cotton ball with oil and leave on the bedside table while sleeping. 

10. Salt 
Add one teaspoon salt to a cup of warm water and gargle with the solution a couple of times a day. 
Salt helps to reduce moisture from mucous membranes and soothes a sore throat. 

11. Vinegar 
Add 1/4 cup of white vinegar into the water pan of a hot steam vaporizer to help relieve congestion.
