1. Polish Faucets
Use a damp cloth and a dab of toothpaste to polish silver facets.


2. All Purpose Heavy-duty Cleaning Solution
ALCOHOL, DISH SOAP, AMMONIA
  • Combine a quarter gallon of water with 1/2 cup rubbing alcohol, a dash of dish washing liquid soap and 1/4 tablespoon ammonia and fill a spray bottle with ingredients for easy cleaning. 

3. All Purpose Cleaner 
(Glass, Stainless Steel, Plastic Laminated Surfaces)
WHITE VINEGAR, LIQUID SOAP
  • Fill a spray bottle with two parts water and 1 part white vinegar and couple drops of liquid soap. 
(Walls, Painted Surfaces)
WHITE VINEGAR, AMMONIA, BAKING SODA
  • Mix 1/2 cup white vinegar with 1 cup ammonia, 1/4 cup baking soda, and 1-gallon water. Pour cleaning solution into a spray bottle. 

4. Appliance and Counters  
BAKING SODA
  • Use baking soda and water to clean instead of harsh chemicals. 

5. Aluminum and Brass
LEMON JUICE, CREAM OF TARTAR 
  • Sprinkle some cream of tartar on a lemon wedge then rub onto the surface of aluminum or brass and let sit for 10-15 minutes rinse and buff dry.

6. Blenders and Food Processors
BAKING SODA
  • Take apart appliance and soak in a mixture of 1 tablespoon baking soda with 1 cup warm water for 15-20 minutes then rinse thoroughly and dry.  

7. Bottles and Container Odors 
MUSTARD
  • To remove food odors add a teaspoon of mustard to hot water and soak containers in solution for 5-10 minutes and rinse clean.

8. Burnt-on Milk Stains
 
 
SALT
  • Dampen pan or stove then sprinkle with salt and wait 10 minutes and wipe clean.

9. Bumper Sticker Removers 
  • MAYONNAISE: Remove bumper stickers by spreading mayonnaise on the sticker and letting it sit for at least 30 minutes then gently scraping off with a putty knife or spatula.                                                                                                                                         
  • VINEGAR: Saturate sticker with distilled vinegar and wait 10-15 minutes then use a spatula to remove sticker then wipe with a vinegar-moistened cloth to remove residue. 

10. Broiler Pan Cooked-on Grease  
VINEGAR, SUGAR
  • Mix 1 cup apple cider vinegar with two tablespoons sugar. Apply the mixture to the pan while still hot and let sit for one hour. The easily rub off stains. 

11. Can-Opener Gears 
WAX PAPER
  • Run a few strips of wax paper through can-opener to clean gears.
VINEGAR 
  • Dip brush into white vinegar and brush onto gears then run appliance to clean itself.

12. Carpet Fresheners  
BAKING SODA
  • Sprinkle a little baking soda on carpets then wait 10 minutes and vacuum.

13. Carpet Cleaner (vehicles)
VINEGAR
  • Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar and sponge onto carpets stains leaving the mixture on for a few minutes then blot up with a clean cloth. 

14. Ceramic Tile Cleaner 
ALCOHOL
  • Pour rubbing alcohol on ceramic tile floors and easily mop clean. 

15. Cheese Grater 
LEMON WEDGE
  • Clean cheese, garlic or any food from a cheese grater by rubbing a lemon on it. 

16. Crystal Glass Cleaners 
VINEGAR
  • Add two tablespoons of vinegar to the dishwasher and run through a cycle. 
BAKING SODA
  • Mix 1 teaspoon baking soda with warm water and dab onto crystal with a soft cloth then rinse and buff dry. 

17. Coffee Mug Stain Remover  
VINEGAR
  • Mix equal parts vinegar with salt and scrub off stains then rinse with warm water. 

18. Coffee Maker  
VINEGAR
  • Mix 1/3 part vinegar to 2/3 parts water and run through coffee maker then again a second time with plain water. 
  • Mix 1 cup water with 1/4 cup baking soda and run through coffee maker then run clean water through three times. 

19. Copper and Brass 
VINEGAR, SALT, FLOUR
  • Clean and polish with 1 part salt, 1 part flour and 1 part vinegar. Rub paste onto brass or copper with a soft rag then rinse with warm water and polish dry. 

20. Crayon Marks
 CUCUMBER 
  • Rub a slice of cucumber over wall crayon marks then wipe with damp cloth. 
WD-40 
  • Use lubricant WD-40 to remove stubborn crayon stains from walls by spraying stain and simply wiping with a cloth. 

21. Chrome Polisher 
VINEGAR
  • Polish chrome with vinegar and polish with a cloth. 

22. Cutting Board Disinfectant and Cleaners   
LEMON JUICE 
  • Pour lemon onto the stain and let sit for 20 minutes then rinse with water. 
VINEGAR
  • Wipe down cutting boards with white vinegar to disinfect and clean. 

23. Deodorize for Refrigerators 
NEWSPAPER 
  • Food containers and refrigerator drawer smell by lining with newspaper overnight which will reduce odors or eliminate them. 

24. Dishwasher Stain Remover 
VINEGAR 
  • Fill the soap dispenser with vinegar and run through a cycle empty.
BAKING SODA 
  • Eliminate spots by adding a spoonful of baking soda with regular soap.

25. Dishwasher Freshener and Cleaner 
LEMONADE POWDER
  • Fill the detergent tray with powdered lemonade mix and run through a cycle to clean mineral deposits and freshen dishwasher.

26. Drain Clogs and Freshener 
SALT
  • Keep drains clear by pouring 1/2 cup of salt down sink periodically. 

27. Duct Tape Residue Remover  
VEGETABLE OIL or OLIVE OIL
  • Remove sticky residue by simply rubbing tape residue with oil then letting it sit for 5-10 minutes and wiping clean. (Works with any tape or sticker residue.)

28. Eyeglass Cleaner
VINEGAR
  • To clean glasses apply a few drops of white vinegar to lenses and wipe with soft cloth. Removes fingerprints, dirt, sweat and leaves them spotless. (Do not use on plastic lenses)

29. Febreze Cleaning Solution (Homemade Recipe)
BAKING SODA, FABRIC SOFTENER
  • Mix 1/8 cup of fabric softener with two tablespoons baking soda and hot water. Fill a 27 oz spray bottle with water then add the rest of ingredients shake well and it's ready to use.  

30. Flower Vase Cleaner 
ALKA-SELTZER
  • Fill a vase with a little water and toss in an Alka-Seltzer to clean the grime build-up at the bottom of a vase.  

31. Fiberglass Cleaner  
AMMONIA, VINEGAR, BAKING SODA
  • Mix 1 cup vinegar, 1/2 cup baking soda, 1/2 cup ammonia and 1-gallon warm water. Use cleaning solution in 'well-ventilated' area and wear gloves when using cleaner.  

32. Frying Pan and Non-Stick Treatment  
VINEGAR
  • Boil 2 cups vinegar in frying pan for 10 minutes. Will keep foods from sticking to pan for months.

33. Garbage Disposal Fresheners 
BAKING SODA
  • Run through disposal baking soda or citrus fruit peels.  
VINEGAR
  • Mix equal parts of water and vinegar and pour the solution into the ice tray and freeze. Once frozen drop a few vinegar cubes down the garbage disposal. Repeat every week to clean and deodorize.

34. Gas Grill Cleaner 
BAKING SODA
  • Mix 1 cup baking soda with 1 cup water making a paste. Dip grill brush into the paste and scrub grill. The black residue will brush off easier without costly cleaning chemicals. 

35. Glass Cleaner  
LEMON JUICE
  • Spray the glass with lemon juice and wipe clean with newspaper. 

36. Glass Casserole Dish Cleaner 
ALKA-SELTZER
  • Fill a dish with water and two tablets of Alka-Seltzer leaving glassware in solution for one hour until the stain disappears. 

37. Grease Cleaner 
VINEGAR
  • Clean up kitchen grease splatters with a sponge dipped in white vinegar then rinse with clean sponge and water. 

38. Grout Cleaner 
BAKING SODA
  • Clean grout with three parts baking soda and 1 part water creating a paste. 

39. Hair Brush Cleaning Solution 
BAKING SODA
  • Mix 1-quart hot water with two tablespoons baking soda and soak brushes and comb for 1-2 hours in solution then rinse thoroughly with warm water. 

40. Hair Dye Stain Remover  
HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
  • Apply hydrogen peroxide onto a cotton ball and rub dye stain on wood cabinets and counters until the stain is removed then rinse with cold water.  

41. Hot Tub Cleaner and Disinfectant 
BAKING SODA
  • Need to increase alkaline levels add some baking soda. 

42. Humidifier Freshener  
LEMON JUICE
  • Add two tablespoons of lemon juice to water.

43. Iron Cleaner and Sticky Residue Remover 
SALT, VINEGAR
  • Sprinkle salt on paper and iron over it with low heat and no steam then wipe clean.                                        
  • For a sticking iron run a hot iron over aluminum foil to clean sticky iron.                                                              
  • To remove scorch marks from irons heat equal parts of vinegar and salt in a small pan then dip a rag into solution and wipe clean iron plate.
  • Clean iron reservoir by filling with vinegar and switching to steam setting letting vinegar steam through for 5-10 minutes. Refill reservoir with clean water and repeat process then rinse with cold water. 

BAKING SODA, HYDROGEN PEROXIDE
  • Clean gold and silver with a paste of baking soda and hydrogen peroxide. 

45. Lamp Shade Cleaner  
DRYER FABRIC SHEETS
  • For a long lasting dusting, job, use a dryer fabric sheet to dust lamp shades and other fabric or intricate decor.  

46. Label Remover and Sticky Residue 
VINEGAR
  • Apply vinegar on the label until saturated then simply peel off. 

47. Leather Water Ring Remover 
VINEGAR
  • Dab ring with a sponge saturated with straight vinegar. 

48. Makeup Brush Cleaner  
BAKING SODA, FABRIC SOAP
  • Clean brushes and sponges with 1/2 cup baking soda with 1 cup water and a 1/2 cup of fabric soap. Submerge into solutions to clean then rinse with cool water reshape brushes and allowing them to air dry. 

49. Magic Marker Stain Removers 
TOOTHPASTE, HAIRSPRAY, VINEGAR, ALCOHOL
  • Painted Walls: Use toothpaste or hairspray to remove stains from walls.                                                          
  • Carpets and Appliances: Pour white vinegar on carpet stain then blot with a white towel.                                 
  • Wood: Rub the stain with alcohol.

50. Melted Plastic Remover 
NAIL POLISH REMOVER
  • To remove melted plastic bags from toasters, glass, plastic or metal appliances rub nail polish remover then wipe with damp cloth or sponge. (Make sure appliances are cool before applying nail polish remover.)

51. Microwave Cleaner and Freshener 
VINEGAR
  • Mix in a bowl 1/4 cup vinegar with 1 cup water and place in microwave and run for 5 minutes on highest setting. Remove bowl when cooled and dip the sponge into the same mixture and wipe clean.

52. Musty Smell Remover 
BAKING SODA 
  • Eliminate musty smells with a sprinkle of baking soda. 

53. Odor Remover 
VINEGAR
  • Use vinegar to remove odors by filling a small container and placing in the room. Also, helps to cut back on dust. Replenish vinegar once a week for continuous air freshener. 

54. Oil Paint Remover
VEGETABLE OIL or OLIVE OIL
  • Remove oil paint from hands by rubbing them with oil then washing with soap.

55. Oven Spill and Grease Removers 
SALT
  • Sprinkle salt on spill immediately and allow the heat from the oven to bake it to ash.
VINEGAR
  • Wipe down inside of the oven with a sponge soaked in white vinegar once a week to prevent grease build-up. 

56. Oven Baked-on Build Up 
AMMONIA, BAKING SODA  
  • Mix 1/4 cup ammonia with one box baking soda making a spreadable paste. Apply the mixture onto baked-on food stain and leave on overnight. In the morning wipe clean with water. 

57. Paint Remover from Hair 
VEGETABLE OIL or OLIVE OIL 
  • Remove paint splatters from hair with olive oil. 

58. Painted Surface Stain Remover 
BAKING SODA
  • Remove crayon, pencil, and ink from painted surfaces with a bit of baking soda and a damp sponge gently rubbing out stain then rinsing with cold water. 

59. Plastic Container Cleaning Solution and Freshener 
VINEGAR
  • Soak plastic containers in a mixture of 2/3 water and 1/3 vinegar for 30 minutes or more.

  • VINEGAR: Mix 1 teaspoon white vinegar with enough water to cover stains and boil for a few minutes then wipe clean with cold water.

  • VINEGAR:  Soak in 2 cups of white vinegar for 30 minutes then rinse with hot soapy water and rinse with cold water.                                                                                                                                                                                
Glassware:                                                                                                                                                                                              
  • VINEGAR:  Fill pan with 1 part vinegar and four parts water the heat to slow boil for about 5 minutes then rub off stains when pan cools.                                                                                                                                              
Nonstick pans:                                                                                                                                                                                              
  • VINEGAR: Mix 2 tablespoons baking soda with 1/2 cup vinegar and 1 cup water and boil for 10 minutes to remove minerals and cooking stains.             
  •  BAKING SODA & HYDROGEN PEROXIDE:  Mix 1/4 cup baking soda with a bit of hydrogen peroxide. Combine ingredients making a paste then rub onto the pan and wipe stains away with a sponge.                                                                                                                                            
  • ALKA-SELTZER: To remove burnt-on grease and food stains soak pots and pans in water with two Alka-Seltzer tablets and easily scrub clean.

62. Refrigerator Odors and Cleaning Solution 
VINEGAR
  • Mix equal parts of water and white vinegar to clean inside the refrigerator and prevent mildew

63. Sanitizer  (Jars, Containers, Vases)
VINEGAR
  • Fill item with equal parts of vinegar and warm soapy water and let sit for 10-15 minutes the shake container or brush to remove stains and rinse.  

64. Silverware Cleaner 
SALT
  • Clean and polish silver by lining a container with aluminum foil then adding one tablespoon salt with cold water and soaking in the mixture for a few minutes then rinsing.  

65. Scuff Marks Remover  
BAKING SODA
  • Remove scuff marks from floors with baking soda and a wet rag. 
NAIL POLISH REMOVER (black scuff marks)
  • Apply nail polish remover on a cotton ball and rub scuff marks clean.

CAR WAX

69. Silver Cleaner 
LEMON JUICE
  • Mix 1-quart whole milk with four tablespoons lemon juice and soak silver items in the solution overnight. Next day, rinse off with water and dry.

VINEGAR
  • Pour 2 cups of white vinegar into a washing machine during the rinse cycle. 

71. Stainless Steel Cleaners 
BAKING SODA
  • Apply a paste of vinegar and baking soda to stainless steel fixtures, faucets leaving the mixture on for about 1 hour then buff off to a sparkling streak free shine. 
VINEGAR 
  • For burnt on grease stains mix 1 cup vinegar and a bit of water to cover stains and boil for 5 minutes then remove from heat and rub clean. 

72. Thermos Cleaning Solution 
VINEGAR
  • Fill a thermos with 1/4 cup white vinegar and warm water the add some white rice. Close thermos and shake vigorously then rinse and air dry.

  • Pour 1/4 cup of mouthwash into a toilet bowl and leave for 1 hour then flush clean.

76. Water Ring Removal
VINEGAR
  • Remove white rings left by wet glasses on wood furniture by mixing equal parts of vinegar and olive oil. Apply with cloth in the direction of grain until removed then shine with a dry cloth.

BAKING SODA
  • Remove bugs from your windshield with water and baking soda. Mix both together creating a paste and spread over windshield leaving for 15 minutes then hosing off.

SALT

VINEGAR
