  • Camp out Friday night and Saturday night.
  • Contribute to the community potluck dinner and dance on Saturday night.
  • Enjoy daytime recreation including hiking and biking and kayaking.
  • Fall asleep to the sounds trains jostling back and forth!
  • Bring your fiddles, banjos, guitars, mandolins, and standup basses.
  • Provide your own tent, awning, chairs, food, drinks, cook stove, utensils.
  • Use the public bathrooms & showers. Pay for ice, fire wood, bikes, kayaks.
Dates: Last weekend of September 2017: Fri Sep 29 + Sat Sep 30 + Sun Oct 1.

Location.
The Brunswick Family Campground is along the Potomac River. It is a Brunswick city park managed by an outdoor sports outfitter. The campground manager resides on site. The campground has
a bath house with showers. The outfitter rents bikes and kayaks and sells fire wood and ice. The campground is along the C & O Canal towpath, a national park with great hiking and biking. The campground is close to
the CSX railroad tracks and the trains can be louder than the banjos.
There are parking spaces near the camping areas but cars cannot park right next to tents. For a price, there are fancy RV sites (see below). Three pavilions are available and the festival has them reserved for dinner hours. The campground has Quiet Time 10pm to 7am. Dogs (with leashes) and fishing (with a license) are allowed. Alcohol is not permitted outside of one's tent or RV.

Registration. Email FrederickOldTime@gmail.com to start the process. Let us know how many people are in your group and which days you plan to stay.  Let us know if you are tent camping, RV camping, or just visiting during the day. Let us know of any special needs. We will (eventually) send you your personal emoji on an invitation letter. There is no festival admission but donations will be welcome on-site. We request $20/adult for the entire festival or $10/adult for a single day. Donations will help us cover the festival expenses -- thank you! (RV pads require payment to the campground -- see below).

Tent camping. Donations are welcome but tent camping is free. If you tell us in advance, then you may share one of the tent camping areas reserved by the festival. We have reserved spots for 100 people in Area G and other areas. The tent areas have small parking lots alongside them. Note that vehicles cannot park adjacent to tents in the tent areas. (If you really want adjacent parking, consider reserving an RV pad -- see below).

RV camping. The RV pads are very nice but they must be reserved and paid for separately by calling the
the Campground you want to join the music event. Please also register with us for the festival.
RV pads cost about $50 per night. RV sites offer water, electricity, adjacent parking, fire pits, picnic tables, and a nearby dumping station.
The festival organizers reserved RV pads 19 and 20 in Area D.

Day visitors.
It is ok to come for the jams and sleep elsewhere. However, you must register in advance -- see Registration.

Volunteers.
Would you like to volunteer? We need staff to welcome the visitors, to manage donations, to organize recycling and trash, to help with unforeseen shortages, and to lay groundwork for the next year's festival. Please let us know your availability. Thank you!

Hotels.
Brunswick does not have any large hotels. We know of Oak Tree Inn and Lockkeeper's Inn in Brunswick. Across the bridge in Lovettsville VA there is the fancy Stone Manor Country Club. Further afield, there are many choices in Harper's Ferry WV, Frederick MD, and Leesburg VA.

The City of
Brunswick is in Frederick County Maryland USA. The location is accessible by hike or bike or horse, MARC train, BTS bus, boat, or car.
The campground The C & O Canal is a National Historic Park whose towpath is now a long bike path from Washington DC through Cumberland and on to Pittsburgh. Brunswick is full of trains. The train museum (Heritage Museum) is a few blocks from the tracks. The Brunswick Line of the MARC train from Washington DC to Martinsburg WV stops here. The Railroad Days festival is downtown every October. The BBQ Throwdown is in March.

Nearby is the Beans in the Belfry cafe, home of our Old Time Jam every 1st and 3rd Sunday. The cafe is in a beautiful old church building. It serves coffee, ice cream, beer, and local food. The Smoketown Brewing Station is in a converted old firehouse. It serves local brews and encourages ordering from King's Pizza next door. The Station is expanding to include a performance space. The Potomac Street Grill can handle meat lovers and vegetarians. The Moose Lodge serves weekend pancakes breakfast at 4th & Potomac. The American Legion post 96 at the Maple Street railroad crossing hosts country music on Fridays.
