Monday October 5, 2015 – Monthly Meeting Report

Annual ELECTION are NOVEMBER 2, 2015

 

Mike opened the meeting at 7:00 with The Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence was held for our troops and servicemen. Approx. 42 members in attendance. Geoff Deihl was expected for a visit, he’s running in the primary for state senate in the 7th Plymouth District, please consider supporting him.

SECRETARY REPORT: from the September 2015 meeting was read and accepted by the members.

TREASURER’S REPORT:  The treasurer’s report from August was accepted and posted. Question from member asking if monies were being put aside for capital improvement, being discussed by Board.

MEMBERSHIP: Tom presented 3 applicants for membership, all were accepted and welcomed to the club.

NSSF and GOAL: Dale S welcomed new members and sadly had to start his presentation with news of the shooting in OR. The NSSF report and GOAL news was posted. Other news can be found on the website.

INDOOR RANGE COMMITTEE: Heating system has been approved and installation will begin next week. The next item on the committee’s agenda is foam and sealant.

IDPA: IDPA has a shooting pit down and has adjusted its shooting matches to an AM and PM. An intro class was held on 10/1 and future classes will be posted on the website. They will be holding a classifier shoot next weekend and will be using the pistol range.

PISTOL: Rick reporting that the pistol is off to a good start, they have 17-20 shooters and are 1-1. They meet on Thursday nights, club guns and ammo is available and new members are welcome. Only the top 5 are scored, others are encouraged to beat their own score.

RIFLE: Roy reporting for Rifle the P.E. Brooks Memorial Shoot was successful, Joe C from RI won the match, Pres C won high scope and Roy high irons. OC rifle team meets on Tuesdays, their home away from home will be Marshfield, and anyone interested in shooting should see Roy or team Captain Steve Mac. CMP Match to be held Sunday 10/11, M1 and Springfield matches are posted, see Franco with any questions. OCSA Winter matches begin November 15 and run for 20 weeks at 10: am, all day, all winter.

BLACK POWDER:  Paul B. reporting, BP mini rendezvous out back, 9/26-27, had about 30 shooters, some campers, some new folks came by. Oct 10-11 is a Tiverton shoot. NEMM is this weekend and other fall events are being organized.

ARCHERY: Paul reporting that three lanes are open, they need some help clearing brush, anyone wanting to help out or coordinate some workdays is welcome.

SHOTGUN:  George reporting, Shotgun, Skeet, Trap and 5-Stand is open on Wednesday’s 10:00–12:00, Thursdays 3:00-dusk, Saturday and Sunday 10:00-1:00.

50/50 Raffle was won by member Bill Earl

NEW BUSINESS:

*Elections will be held November 2, voting will start at 6:00 pm. 3 seats on the Board are open, Bill E is retiring, Mark S and George E are incumbents.

*NRA Funday was a huge success, Thank you Nikki S. and Gene for taking the reins and running with this, numerous emails and compliments have been received. Kudos to all the volunteers and staff.

*Geo W is fielding calls about Jr rifle, available locations are too far away so the indoor Jr rifle program is suspended for the time being.

*Sept 11th heavy rainstorms damaged unsupported bails in the pistol and IDPA ranges. One of the IDPA pits has been closed. Outdoor range committee requested of the BoD $7000 for support poles and equipment to repair damage. The motion was made to the membership for approval and was passed.

* Discussion for an age change @IDPA, Ron to present at future meeting.
