Monday July 6, 2015 – Monthly Meeting Report

Mike opened the meeting at 7:00 with The Pledge of Allegiance and a moment of silence was held for our troops and servicemen. Mike also asked for a moment of silence for the tragic loss of Ralph Pace, a life member who will be missed.

SECRETARY REPORT:  the Secretary’s report from the June 2015 meeting was read and accepted by the members.

TREASURER’S REPORT: The treasurer’s report from June was accepted and posted.

MEMBERSHIP: Tom presented 10 new applicants for membership, all were accepted and welcomed to the club.

NSSF and GOAL: Dale S welcomed new members and presented NSSF report and GOAL news Smartguns…suppressors…want more info? Visit the website and Sign up for emails @ and follow Old Colony on Facebook, Dale got some posters from NSSF, to be framed.

RANGE COMMITTEE: Franco, outdoor range work on the baffles is complete and Franco thanked the numerous members that helped. A list will be posted and has gone to the membership secretary. Thank you all, the baffles look great and make the ranges safer.

HOUSE COMMITTEE: No report If you have any concerns or improvement needs please contact Gary.

IDPA Ron reporting for IDPA, a two handed Action Defensive Pistol competition is off to a good season, they had 42 shooters at the June match, proving that the limit needs to be 40.  There will be a safety officers certification class held on Saturday. An intro class will be held 7/22 and a live fire practice the following Saturday. Ron further thanked the team members for maintaining the fields.

PISTOL: Rick reporting that the pistol team is meeting at 6:00 pm due to daylight.  It’s informal and a great time for newcomers to practice and learn the sport, they meet Thursday s. And for some outdoor summer fun they have been shooting .32 cal and up.

RIFLE: George reporting that the Military matches are posted, August 16 is M1 and vintage style rifles, see Franc with any questions

200 yard summer league has had good turnout, Tuesday nights in the rifle house shoot almost any rifle.

Upcoming a 3 week .22 shoot, the end of August.

BLACK POWDER:  Paul B. reporting, BP shoots on the second Saturday of the month in the primitive area all are welcome August 1 is a shoot in Tiverton. Of note; Payton, (Austin’s Granddaughter) has been hired as an instructor for the Mass Jr conservation camp.

ARCHERY: No archery report

SHOTGUN:  Shotgun, Skeet, Trap and 5-Stand is open on Wednesday’s 10:00–12:00, Thursdays 2:00-dusk, Saturday and Sunday 10:00-1:00.

50/50:  50/50 was won by Dana B who donated his winnings back to the Junior programs. Thanks Dana!

New Business: George read a scripted motion instructing the Board of Directors on what to do with the downstairs range leading to much discussion amongst the members. It seems everyone is in agreement that the range needs to be cleaned and sealed. Passionate discussion ensued when commencing shooting was mentioned. Discussion points; Are members being given all the information? (Dale sent an email with all the committee’s recommendations). New building and quote from Gallant for foundation and walls on a new building, $24.K. Kitchen? Air ventilation? Is BoD showing due diligence in trying to clean the range/club? Do we have a plan of Action? Motion was tabled by President because it required spending money, Article 8 section 8, no motion shall come from the floor that requires spending money. Dale appointed to chairman of committee to review all proposals. Cleaning and sealing top priority.
