The UCAN (University Connection America-the Netherlands) aims at creating awareness among Dutch students that a PhD in the US is an attractive career option, and provide them with information to tackle the application process.
As a part of creating awareness, Okke has travelled to the Netherlands to give talks at several universities: University of Leiden, Eindhoven University of Technology, Radboud University Nijmegen and Utrecht University. He has also written in a periodical of the University of Groningen [link]. Additionally he's made available a document which contains his experiences in applying to American PhD programs and information for others that have similar ambitions [link].
The UCAN initiative is an initiative of The John Ernest Foundation (TJEF).
