The ORSA U14 team travelled to Greenville this week to face an undefeated opponent. Ultimately the Force dropped a 2-0 decision in a hard fought game. The game began with a big push by Greenville but the ORSA defense was up to the task. Ian Hepler, Greg Fackler and George Coon held firm and limited Greenville to outside and poor angle shots. Each easily handled by Sam Pfohl in the net. As the half wore on the Force began to level the run of play and generate some offense. Clayton Stover broke past the defense and left a nice centering pass to Dan McQuaide who found the ball an inch out of reach to push it just wide of the net. The half ended in a scoreless tie.

The second half again saw the teams vying for the difference maker. Eventually the Greenville squad was able to find the corner of the net in the final 10 minutes to take the lead. The Force rallied to find an equalizer and again Stover was through the defense with McQuaide and Braeden Riley running free to the back post. Stover put a lifted ball at the goal that fell just over the crossbar onto the top netting. Pfohl made multiple big saves throughout the second half but Greenville netted an insurance tally with 3 minutes remaining for the final margin.

Joe Danvers and Calvin Ceprish were strong through the midfield as the team fought to the end. Pfohl was named Player of The Match for his outstanding effort in the goal. The team will finish its season at home next week against Shenango Valley.

The ORSA U14 team hosted Titusville this week and fought to a 2-2 tie. The Force started a bit flat and gave up an early tally to the visitors. As the game progressed, the team continued to get stronger and was able to start pressuring the visitors. Dan McQuaide managed to gain the corner later in the half and served a perfect cross. Clayton Stover then converted a great header into the near post to even the score.

The Titusville team used their advantage in size and speed to generate some chances but goalkeeper Sam Pfohl was able to keep the score even through the half.

The second half began with continued even play between both teams. Eventually Titusville was able to convert an indirect free kick with a perfectly placed shot just out of Pfohl's diving reach. The Force rallied and created several opportunities until Braeden Riley scored his first goal for ORSA off a nice feed from Calvin Ceprish.

Ian Hepler and Nick Swatzler anchored the defense that was up to the challenge all game. Joe Danvers was particularly strong in the midfield triggering many forward chances.

Riley and Pfohl shared Player of the Match honors.

The ORSA U14 dropped a hard fought battle with MSA 1-0 this week. The Force dominated the run of play through large stretches of the game but was unable to come up with the win. In the first half, Clayton Stover had two great opportunities set up by great passing from Calvin Ceprish. The defense was solid and limited the visiting club to only a single shot on goal.

In the second, an early defensive lapse cost the Force by giving up a goal on MSA's only good opportunity of the half. The Force pushed back valiantly, but were unable to connect with the net despite great chances from Stover, Ceprish, Dan McQuaide, and Braeden Riley. The game ended with ORSA having 5-6 chances in the final minutes.

Joe Danvers was named Player of the Match for his outstanding midfield play.

The team has a bye week and returns to action in 2 weeks.

ORSA Force U14 at Grove City

posted Apr 28, 2014, 10:24 PM by Thomas Pfennigwerth

The ORSA U14 team dropped a hard fought decision, 3-0, to Grove City on the road.  The Force opened with a strong effort with no subs and one player ill.  The first half was a scoreless battle for most of time.  Calvin Ceprish took several feeds from Dan McQuaide that led to offensive chances and crosses that just didnt connect.  The Grove City keeper was sharp and thwarted a couple good looks.  The defense held strong and was able to defend a number of corners and keep any good chances at goal.  Grove City finally tallied late in the half on a bouncing shot the was initially saved by keeper Sam Pfohl.  A quick reflex save appeared to push the ball past the far post but a crazy spin allowed the ball to trickle across the line just inside the post.

The second half again opened with the Force pushing forward.  Joe Danvers and Braeden Riley kept pushing through the midfield with strong play.  McQuaide again made several chances happen.  A great cross was volleyed just wide by Ceprish.  Ultimately the lack of subs caught up with the Force as Grove Citys best player made a couple of incredible individual plays to set up the last 2 tallies of the game.

The defense was led by Greg Fackler in center defense.  Clayton Stover and Nick Swatzler shared Player of the Match honors for their solid defense.

The team will host MSA this coming week at Oil City HS.
