The Optimist Junior Golf Program is an exciting and unique junior golf program for ages 10-18. More than 5,000 boys and girls throughout the United States and Canada and in several foreign countries compete in official Optimist qualifying tournaments. The best of these golfers, along with international golfers from around the globe, advance to the annual Optimist International Junior Golf Championship. Commonly referred to as simply The Optimist, it is one of the largest and most prestigious junior golf events in the world. In addition to top-level tournament golf, participants have the opportunity to meet new friends and to have a great deal of fun. Each year, more than 650 junior golfers from 22 countries participate in The Optimist. The PGA National Resort & Spa, located in Palm Beach Gardens, Palm Beach County, Florida, is the home of The Optimist . Combined with a dedication to junior golf that few golf destinations can match, PGA National is the perfect location for The Optimist and will return to PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, USA, on the following dates.  

July 17-22, 2018: Boys 10-11 and 12-13 & Girls 10-12

July 22-27, 2018: Boys 14-15 & Girls 13-14 

July 27-August 1, 2018: Boys 16-18 & Girls 15-18

Besides being located next to the international headquarters of the PGA of America, the resort’s championship golf courses have hosted the PGA Championships, the PGA Seniors’ Championships, the Ryder Cup, the Grand Slam of Golf, the World Big Tour Match, the PGA Club Professional Championship and the PGA Junior Championship, and the resort is now the home course of the PGA TOUR’s Honda Classic. In addition, Palm Beach County is rated as having more golf courses than any county in the United States.

Big Changes Coming to Ohio Optimist Junior Golf In 2017 
Ohio Qualifier Tournaments Direct To "The Optimist" In Florida
 Set For Monday, June 5 And June 12
The Ohio Optimist International Junior Golf Championships will no longer conduct pre-qualifier tournaments. After 36 years with the pre-qualifier format, Ohio will now conduct two separate tournaments, one in the North and another in the South, and each will send their winners and qualifiers to the PGA National Resort & Spa in Palm Beach Gardens, FL. In 2017 the Ohio Tournaments will be held at The Golf Club at Yankee Trace in Centerville on Monday, June 5 and at Tam O'Shanter Golf Course in Canton on Monday, June 12.

Age Divisions Offered: BOYS 10-11, 12-13, 14-15, 16-18 and GIRLS 10-12, 13-14, 15-18

Registration Fee: The Ohio District Junior Golf Committee has set the 2017 fee at $80.
