The Sino-Japanese floristic region, including the flora of Japan, exhibits high plant diversity. Our primary research focus is to understand the diversification of plants in this region. To achieve this, we conduct fieldwork, morphological observations, ploidy analysis, and molecular phylogenetic analysis. Our research focuses on endemic plant groups in this region, such as Aucuba, Helwingia, Pertya, and Gardneria, as well as plant groups diversified in this region, such as Aristolochia, Cleyera, and Euyra. Furthermore, we investigate historical herbarium specimens and address nomenclatural problems.
