Trailer hitch CW key

by OH6DC

I have this rusty piece of steel behind my car. People say it is for towing a trailer. Well, of course it can be used that way. But I am quite sure these things were originally designed to be CW keys. You can clearly see the resemblance if you look the picture.

To make the key complete and functioning you need these accessories: a car jack and a keying cable.

Put the jack under the trailer hitch and connect the keying cable. Remove dirt and rust from contact surfaces. Adjust the jack so that it almost touches the trailer hitch. With a very small gap between the keying contacts you don't have to push the key hard.
