Dragonflies (lat. Odonata) - one of the most ancient, but at the same time a successful group of insects which play an important role in aquatic and terrestrial biocenoses.
Dragonflies develop through
hemi-metamorphosis. Their life cycle consists of egg, larva and adult (imago).Larvae live in water. Metamorphosis occurs at the final larval phase. Dragonflies (both larvae and adults) are carnivorous throughout their life.
