Dragonflies (lat. Odonata) - one of the most ancient, but at the same time a successful group of insects which play an important role in aquatic and terrestrial biocenoses.Dragonflies develop through hemi-metamorphosis. Their life cycle consists of egg, larva and adult (imago).
Larvae live in water. Metamorphosis occurs at the final larval phase. Dragonflies (both larvae and adults) are carnivorous throughout their life.
