Dr. Odelu Vanga is currently working as an Associate Professor in the School of Computer and Information Sciences at University of Hyderabad, India. Prior to this, he was with the Department of AI & CSE at Mahindra University, Hyderabad, India, and also worked at Indian Institute of Information Technology Sri City, AP, India and Birla Institute of Technology & Science (BITS), Pilani, Hyderabad Campus. Before joining BITS, he was with the Korea University, South Korea as a Research Professor. He was also worked at Rajiv Gandhi University of Knowledge Technologies (RGUKT), Basar, Telangana, India.
He is elevated to the grade of IEEE Senior member, 2022. He is listed in World’s Top 2% Scientists Rankings consecutively from 2022 and 2025 (Stanford University and Elsevier). He has been awarded Outstanding Potential for Excellence in Research and Academics (OPERA) by BITS Pilani. He was selected as an Outstanding Young Foreign Scholar "Korean Research Fellowship (KRF-2017)'' by the Korean Government (Global competition among 15 positions). He was cleared Council of Scientific & Industrial Research - Junior Research Fellowship (CSIR-JRF, India) examination in December 2008 in Mathematical Sciences. He also qualified Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE-2009, India) in Mathematics and secured All India Fifth Rank (99.82%).
He received the Ph.D. degree in Theoretical Computer Science (Cryptography and Network Security) and the Master of Technology (M.Tech.) degree in Computer Science and Data Processing both from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur, India. He received CSIR-JRF during his M.Tech. degree. He also completed his Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Applied Mathematics from Kakatiya University, Warangal, Telangana, India.
He conducted, as coordinator, a six-day Faculty Development Program (FDP) on “Emerging Techniques in Cyber Security for Building Resilient Network Infrastructure” during Dec. 9-14, 2024, which is sponsored by AICTE ATAL, is being held online and has witnessed an overwhelming response with 173 participants registered from across the country. He was an Organizing Chair of International Conference on Mining Intelligence and Knowledge Exploration (MIKE-2019). Track Chair for the Intelligent Security Systems (MIKE-2017 & 2018), and also Member of Advisory Committee MIKE-2018. He is Guest Editor for Topical Issue - Security and Privacy 2020, SN Computer Science, Springer. He is an active reviewer for several SCI-indexed journals including ACM/IEEE Transactions and Technical Program Committee member for several reputed International Conferences. He also delivered several talk top-venues. His current research interests includes Security, Quantum Computing, and Machine Learning Applications. He has authored over 70 research papers in the international journals and conferences.
