Greetings from Odawa Native Friendship Centre
Board of Directors, Staff and Volunteers
The holiday season is fast approaching. In the spirit of Christmas, the staff of the Odawa Native Friendship Centre wishes to make this holiday season a joyous occasion for those less fortunate within our community. Our Christmas Angel Tree project is under way. As part of this project we try to provide families with food and gifts for Christmas. Each year as our Christmas wish list grows longer we try to accommodate as many families as possible. Your generosity through food drives, gift donations and monetary contributions is essential for Odawa to succeed in this worthwhile pursuit.
Last year we discovered that the children in our community are growing up. We were surprised to find that most of the children are now over 5 years of age, so we would like to suggest that when choosing an Angel, you consider one for an older child. There are also a growing number of teens on our list and we do not want to forget them. Please consider this age group. Ideas for this age are......
Gift Certificates for: music, movies, books, Department store, fast food, etc.
Disposable camera, phone cards
Photo frames, album, journal and pen
Mitts, hat, scarf, turtleneck, neck warmers, socks
Bath products, candles and holders
Note cards, stationery and stamps
Craft kits, games, posters etc.
Please return your unwrapped gifts by December 14th. Donations of wrapping paper, scotch tape, etc. are also helpful.
Thanks to all of you who have been so generous in the past and to those of you are joining this worthy cause this year.

November 23, 2011
for Immediate Release to all Odawa Shareholders
The Odawa Native Friendship Centre Board of Directors takes this opportunity to provide you with an update on the Real Estate Strategy referencing the potential sale of the Centre located at 12 Stirling Avenue.
For the past 18 months, the Board Real Estate Strategy Team has been involved in discussions to sell the property currently owned by Odawa and occupied by Odawa and its tenants.
With the change in the Board of Directors at our Annual General Membership (AGM) meeting in June 2011, we identified new players to continue the on-going discussions and potential negotiations for this possible transaction. As a result, we have been working closely with our legal counsel and the real estate company attempting to determine our best approach to ensure a well thought out process for the sale of the building and for a smooth transition from 12 Stirling to a new location if and when the sale occurs.
In the meantime, Board and Staff have visited one potential new location, however it must be stated that no decisions have been made and no agreements have been finalized or decided upon confirming "where" we will call Odawa's new home. The process is a complicated one having its fair share of twists and turns and we are navigating the process as best we can.
On behalf of the Board of Directors (Real Estate Strategy Team) we confirm our commitment to:
At this point, we can only say that the process is ongoing, the property and building have not been sold at this time and that as a result Odawa does not have any confirmed or immediate plans to move.
We appreciate your trust and ongoing patience during this process. If you have any questions or concerns, please direct them to Odawa’s Board President, Ms. Donna Lyons.
IN THE SPIRIT OF SHARING & FRIENDSHIP.
