Welcome to the Ocean County 2018 Hazard Mitigation Plan Update Project Website

The Ocean County Office of Emergency Management is updating its Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Approved Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan (HMP). This HMP is required by state and federal agencies in order for communities in Ocean County to be eligible for certain types of state and federal disaster relief funds after a disaster occurs.

This website will be used throughout the planning process to post information, collect comments, announce meetings, and to post draft documents.

  • Draft of HMP Submitted to the State OEM

    We're pleased to announce that a draft of the 2018 Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan for Ocean County was submitted to the New Jersey State Office of Emergency Management (OEM) on September 21, 2018.

  • Miss the Public Stakeholder meeting to review the Draft Ocean County Hazard Mitigation Plan?

     Also available is a presentation given by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) to announce the upcoming Resilient NJ program.

    The NJDEP Office of Coastal and Land Use Planning has received $10 million in grant funding from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s National Disaster Resilience Completion to develop and implement up to 5 regional plans to build resilience to future flooding events. For more information on Resilient NJ and future funding opportunities, view the presentation here.

  • Draft Plan Posted for Review

    The Ocean County Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan is available for public review and comment from April 6th until May 6th, 2018.

    This Plan is a blueprint for reducing property damage and saving lives from the effects of future natural and human-made disasters.  Please review and comment online or join us for a Public Meeting to present and gather comments on the plan. 

    Public Meetings will be held on April 10th from 10-11:30 AM at the Ocean County Library Bishop Building, 101 Washington Street in Toms River; April 10th from 1:30-3 PM at the Stafford Township Municipal Building, Council Room, 260 East Bay Avenue in Manahawkin; and April 10th from 5:30-7 PM at the Ocean County Training Center, 200 Volunteer Way, in Waretown.

  • Upcoming Public Meetings

     The Ocean County Office of Emergency Management is hosting public meetings to review the Draft Ocean County Multi-Jurisdictional All Hazards Mitigation Plan.

     

    Three meetings are planned for Tuesday, April 10, 2018 so that you may attend a time and location that is convenient to you:

     

    10:00 to 11:30 A.M. – Ocean County Library - Bishop Building, 101 Washington Street, Toms River, NJ 08753

    1:30 to 3:00 P.M. – Stafford Township Municipal Building, Council Room, 260 East Bay Avenue, Manahawkin, NJ 08050

    5:30 to 7:00 P.M. – Ocean County Training Center, 200 Volunteer Way, Waretown, NJ 08758
