Prof. dr hab. inż. Jerzy Zajaczkowski, jzaj@wp.pl


Jerzy Zajaczkowski was born in 1946 in Sypniewo near Walcz, Poland. Parents Wladyslaw and Adela née Skrzos. Childhood and early years spent in Wloclawek, where he graduated from Maria Konopnicka High School. In 1971 he completed studies at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering at Technical University of Lodz, earning the title of master degree in mechanical engineering with a specialisation of textile machinery and equipment. In the same year he began to work at Technical University of Lodz. The degree of doctor of engineering he received in the year 1978. The degree of habilitatus doctor of engineering in the discipline of applied mechanics received in 1990, the title of professor granted by the president of Poland in 2005. The position of extraordinary professor in 1996 and ordinary professor in 2008. Stayed at the two-year scholarship in Japan (1975-1977), including the half-year in Osaka University of Foreign Studies and one and a half year in Hokkaido University in Sapporo and visit scholarship in England (1991) in the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research at Southampton University. The scientific activities mostly carried in the field of vibration and modelling of machines. He developed a method of studying parametric vibration, explained the phenomenon of non-linear dynamics of electro-mechanical systems with flexible elements that are working in resonant and overcritical speed. He created computer models of machinery and he is an author of computer approach to machine mechanics. In the area of interest are also issues with the scope of the safe machinery, graphics and multimedia techniques. From 1992 he was a head of Division of Fundamentals of Machine Design at Institute of Textile Machines and from 1999 is a head Department of Textile Machine Mechanics. Deputy dean for science of the Faculty of Material Technology and Textile Design (2006-2008).
