Monday
11am        Intro to Open and Utility ($10 drop in)            Cindy Jones
This class focuses on training and proofing of Open exercises:  off leash heeling, command discrimination, retrieve on flat, high and broad jumps, drop on recall, and sits and downs.  In addition, the class will provide an introduction to Utility exercises including directed jumping, go-outs, moving stands, and signals.  Both AKC and UKC rules and regulations are discussed.  Open run-throughs are offered as time permits.

12pm     Dumbbell 101 ($10 drop in)             Cindy Jones
This class will cover the dumbbell retrieve used in Open obedience. Note: this is a 30 minute class

12:30pm   Agility Handling Skills ($10 drop in)       Sharon Atkins
This class is designed for those handlers/dogs who are familiar with agility equipment.  Emphasis will be on improving handling skills.

Training is a cooperative venture involving you and your dog. This class is geared toward competitive dog sports but the emphasis is on the bond between the two of you. Each team will move at their own pace through a series of levels covering all the exercises needed to compete in AKC obedience.This classes uses positive, force free training methods only! NO DROP INS! This class is for dogs who have completed Positive Partners Level One!

1pm       Rally Run-Throughs  ($10 drop in)              Diane Ahti/Brenda Royer
Rally Run Throughs is designed to help you get ready for your upcoming rally trial. It's a great place to practice what you learned in rally class. A full competition course is set up and instructors are available to help with any questions you may have. 

3pm   Nosework 2  ($85)   Cindy Jones  
Nosework 2 takes over where Intro to Nosework left off. Dogs will continue to work on their skills. Must have taken the Intro Class (or have instructor approval). Limit 6 dogs!

4-7pm   Nose Work Run Throughs ($10 drop in)   Cindy Jones
This class is for dogs that have completed Nosework 2 (or have instructor approval).  The instructor will provide  various run through opportunities including:  containers, interiors, buried, and handler discrimination.  In addition, as weather permits, external and vehicle run throughs will be provided. 

6pm   Puppy Kindergarten ($75)      Emily Perry  CPDT  3 spots left!
Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies four to six months old. They will learn basic obedience (sit, down, come, leash manners) while improving their social skills. Common behavior issues for older puppies will also be discussed. Limit 8 puppies!

7pm   Beginning Nosework  ($85)  Chris Reedy 
Dogs' sense of smell is thousands of times more sensitive than humans!  This class will introduce your dog to scent (the sport is called Nose Work in UKC and **Scent Work in AKC).  Dogs will learn the basics of identifying and alerting the handler to a hidden scent.  UKC and AKC rules and techniques for showing are included.  Nosework is a great way to build confidence in a dog....particularly shy dogs.  Limit 6 dogs!


7pm    Family Dog Two  ($85)        Emily Perry CPDT 
Family Dog 2 picks up where Family Dog left off.  Emphasis will be on loose leash walking/heeling, sit/down stays, and recalls....while continuing to use the elements learned in Family Dog (mat training, park, sit/down,and leave it).  Class will cover the basic skills necessary to participate in canine sports such as Obedience, Rally, Agility, Freestyle, Nose Work, etc.  Must have taken level Family Dog or have instructor approval. LIMIT 8 dogs

This class covers all the exercises needed to compete in AKC Novice Obedience. Heel, sit, down, stay, and figure eights will be covered along with the rules and regulations.

Does your dog behave fine at home but lose his mind when he’s out walking? Does he pull on the leash and bark when he sees a squirrel or dog? Does he jump on Grandma when she comes to dinner? The Family Dog is designed to help a dog learn self-control so that he can be out in public around people and other dogs. A dog that walks nicely on a leash and sits quietly when meeting new people is a dog that can go more places with his family! Dogs should wear a flat buckle collar, a martingale, or a harness. LIMIT 8 dogs

10am   Positively Intermediate ($10 drop in)    Linda Alkema
This class focuses on improving loose leash walking/heeling, recalls, and stays with distractions. Aspects of AKC/UKC Beginner Novice and Novice Obedience exercises are included.  Exercises vary at each class and can be personalized for goals depending on how many dogs are present. Dogs should have passed a basic obedience class.

11am   Positively Advanced ($10 drop in)          Cindy Jones 
This class emphasizes advanced obedience training and continues where Positively Intermediate Obedience leaves off.  Training and proofing exercises are taught using Positive Training Reinforcement.  The class is designed for handlers who compete, as well as those that wish to improve the skills of their family dog.  Exercises include:  advanced heeling and recalls, jumps, advanced sits/downs/stays, introduction to the dumb bell, and sit/stand for exam.

This class will focus on the beginning steps toward performance obedience: bowl work, platform work, heel position, tuck sit and more!

This class is for dogs that have completed at least one class of term of nose work classes.  The instructor will provide  various run through opportunities including:  containers, interiors, buried, and handler discrimination.  In addition, as weather permits, external and vehicle run throughs will be provided. 

6pm  Beginning Competitive Obedience 2 ($85)  Cindy Jones/Mary Ann Schropp  
This class continues what was learned in Beginning Competitive Obedience.  This is not a pattern training class.  Pre-requisite:  Dogs must have taken Beg Competitive Obedience or have instructor approval.  Limit 8 dogs.  No drop ins.

6pm   Household Obedience 1 ($75)    Shawn McGinley   
Household Obedience One is for people who are looking for basic obedience for their family dog. Focus will be on sit, down, stay, come, and heel.  LIMIT 8 dogs  

6pm   Barn Hunt ($10 drop in)      Peg Clark
Barn hunt is a fun new sport where dogs use their noses to hunt for rats (safely enclosed in tubes!) that are hidden in straw. The class is held every Wed 6-dark weather permitting!

This 6 week class will help your new puppy have positive experiences with new people and dogs. We will focus on socialization, which is essential for a well-rounded, fearless dog. Puppies will also learn skills like sit, down, loose leash walking, and the basics of leave it and stay. This class is for puppies 8-16 weeks old. 12pm     Beginner Novice ($85)     Margo Maidlow
This class will focus on the exercises needed for a dog to compete in the AKC Beginner Novice class (heel, sit stay, down stay, recall, figure eight, long sit in middle). Dogs should already know basic obedience (heel, sit, stay, etc).


4:00pm     SPOT/CGC ($85)      Gladys Cataline

This class will prepare you and your dog to take the UKC SPOT or AKC CGC test. The test will be offered the last day of class ($10 for SPOT, $15 for CGC). For more information on the CGC click here and for the SPOT click here


6pm    Beginner Rally Run-Throughs  ($10 drop in)      Mary Ann Schropp

Rally is an obedience based sport consisting of handlers/dogs proceeding through a course of 10-20 signs.  The dog and handler perform the exercises indicated on each sign.  This class will focus on the Novice and Intermediate Rally levels...which are done on leash.  Each class will include a different course, with increasing difficulty.  The first three weeks courses will be Novice level.  The last three weeks courses will be Intermediate level.  The instructor will assist with correct performance of signs and answer questions.  Beginners are welcome and should bring lots of small, soft treats.


6pm    Community Canine ($85)    Cady Ness-Smith  

This class will prepare dogs to take the Canine Good Citizen Advanced and Urban test.Class will meet at OTC the first day but will be out in the community for the remainder of classes. CGCA testing week 5, Urban week 6. Dogs must have passed CGC prior to start of class.  Limit 8 dogs   


7pm   Competition Obedience Skills ($10 drop in)   Kim Cassida    
Handlers will learn how to polish and proof skills that are used in all levels of competition, such as fronts, finishes, the new position changes, heeling, jumping, retrieving, stays and more.  Individual exercises can be tailored to teams competing on all levels, from beginner novice to utility. Prerequisites: Dogs should be able to heel at a beginner level, come when called, and stay.

7pm   Competitive Puppy ($85)   Chris Reedy
Are you raising a puppy for competitive events? Get the right start with the Competition Puppy Series. These 3 classes are designed to assist you and your new competition puppy in achieving your competitive goals. The 3 classes are meant to be taken in sequence and will only be offered once a year. You will not be able to skip levels. There will not be any puppy play group in these classes. This series is appropriate for new puppies starting 8 weeks to 4 months. NO DROP INS. LIMIT 8 PUPPIES

Level 1 (June term): Beginner Puppy Skills: Shape your puppy’s confidence in multiple areas; work on focus and impulse control. Puppies will be introduced to basic equipment that will strengthen them physically (at a puppy appropriate level), allow you to shape the puppy’s responses to you and your body language. Your will help your puppy learn equal value for food, toys, and activity. 

Level 2: Advanced Puppy I (July term):  As your puppy matures, different challenges present themselves. In Level 2 we will continue Level 1 skills but at a more advanced pace. Puppies will be capable of greater focus by now and will be introduced to activities such as platforms, planks, tunnels, wobble boards, auto sits, sit and down stays, etc. Class focus will be on engagement between puppy and handler, building drive, shaping behaviors and verbal cues.

Level 3: Advanced Puppy II (Sept term): With such a great start on foundation skills your puppy is ready to fly! Level 3 skills will build on the previous 2 class levels, but we will build duration with certain skills (such as stays), heeling, start line stays. Scentwork will be introduced with traditional scents as well as handler scent (think scent articles or tracking). Mini sequences with puppy appropriate agility equipment will be offered. 

8pm  Open/Utility Practice:  Getting Your dog Ready for the Ring  ($10 drop in) Cindy Rice
This class is geared towards handlers competing in obedience.  The emphasis is on practicing the open and utility exercises with mild proofing and lots of floor time.
