Monday
11am        Rally Masters ($10 drop in)      Marilyn DeRoover
This class is designed for handlers who are competing, or hope to compete, at the Master level of Rally.  Each class will include a different Master level Rally course.  Competition at the Master level requires dogs to be off-leash, so participation in this class is limited to dogs that are comfortable and under control off leash.  Students should be familiar with signs at least through the Advanced level.  The instructor is available to critique run-throughs, provide information on rules and the correct performance of signs, and answer questions.  Please, no prong or choke/training collars. 

11am        Intro to Open ($10 drop in)            Cindy Jones
Introduction and proofing of open exercises including: heeling, dumbbells, drop on recall, high and broad jumps, out of sight sit and down stays, . This class will include proofing exercises, showmanship, and discussion of rules and regulations.

12pm     Dumbbell 101 ($10 drop in)             Cindy Jones
This class will cover the dumbbell retrieve used in Open obedience. Note: this is a 30 minute class

Looking for a fun way to tire out your dog? Dogs take turns on the agility equipment and learn some fun tricks while they wait. A great way to exercise your dog physically and mentally! This class does not meet the first Monday of each month!

Tuesday

Rally Run Throughs is designed to help you get ready for your upcoming rally trial. It's a great place to practice what you learned in rally class. A full competition course is set up and instructors are available to help with any questions you may have. 

6pm   Puppy Kindergarten ($70)      Emily Perry  
Puppy Kindergarten is for puppies four to six months old. They will learn basic obedience (sit, down, come, leash manners) while improving their social skills. Common behavior issues for older puppies will also be discussed. Limit 8 puppies!

6pm        Let's Get Started:  Rally Signs! ($85)          Mary Ann Schropp  

Rally is an obedience based sport consisting of handlers/dogs proceeding through a course of 10-15 signs.  At each sign, the dog and handler perform the exercise indicated on the sign.  Handlers are allowed to talk to, and encourage their dog.  The instructor uses positive reinforcement training, so handlers are encouraged to bring plenty of small tasty treats.  This is a beginner level class, however, dogs should be familiar with these commands:  Sit, Down, Front, Left and Right Finishes, and Stay.  This class will include the basic rules of Rally and will focus on the 42 Novice Rally signs.  Because Novice and Intermediate Levels of Rally are performed on leash, dogs should be able to walk on a loose leash.  Basic footwork and other exercises will be taught, depending on the skill level of the students.  No prong or choke/training collars.     Limit 8 dogs

7pm    The Family Dog Two  ($85)        Emily Perry   **2 Spots Left!
Family Dog 2 picks up where Family Dog left off.  Emphasis will be on loose leash walking/heeling, sit/down stays, and recalls....while continuing to use the elements learned in Family Dog (mat training, park, sit/down,and leave it).  Class will cover the basic skills necessary to participate in canine sports such as Obedience, Rally, Agility, Freestyle, Nose Work, etc.  Must have taken level Family Dog or have instructor approval. LIMIT 8 dogs

8pm Positive Partners ($85)   
Training is a cooperative venture involving you and your dog. This class is geared toward competitive dog sports but the emphasis is on the bond between the two of you. Each team will move at their own pace through a series of levels covering all the exercises needed to compete in AKC obedience. NO DROP INS!

Does your dog behave fine at home but lose his mind when he’s out walking? Does he pull on the leash and bark when he sees a squirrel or dog? Does he jump on Grandma when she comes to dinner? The Family Dog is designed to help a dog learn self-control so that he can be out in public around people and other dogs. A dog that walks nicely on a leash and sits quietly when meeting new people is a dog that can go more places with his family! Dogs should wear a flat buckle collar, a martingale, or a harness. LIMIT 8 dogs
10am   Positively Intermediate ($10 drop in)    Linda Alkema
Positively Obedient Intermediate focuses improving loose leash walking/heeling, recalls, and stays with distractions, etc. Dogs should have taken Family Dog or another basic obedience class.

11am   Positively Advanced ($10 drop in)           Cindy Jones  
Positively Obedient Advanced continues where Intermediate left off.  All basic obedience exercises are covered along with competitive exercises and proofing.

This 6 week class will help your new puppy have positive experiences with new people and dogs. We will focus on socialization, which is essential for a well-rounded, fearless dog. Puppies will also learn skills like sit, down, loose leash walking, and the basics of leave it and stay. This class is for puppies 8-16 weeks old. This class will focus on the exercises needed for a dog to compete in the AKC Beginner Novice class (heel, sit stay, down stay, recall, figure eight, long sit in middle). Dogs should already know basic obedience (heel, sit, stay, etc).

This class covers all the exercises needed to compete in AKC Novice Obedience. Heel, sit, down, stay, and figure eights will be covered along with the rules and regulations. 

Thursday
9:30am    Agility Run Throughs ($10 drop in)    Pete Ostlund
Agility run-through courses in the larger ring will focus on developing handling skills with one or two non-jump obstacles in addition to several jumps.  The smaller ring will be for training your dog how to use obstacles.  This is not a beginner's agility class.  Handlers should already be familiar with agility.  Some limited instruction will be provided as needed.

12pm     Beginner Novice ($85)     Margo Maidlow
This class will focus on the exercises needed for a dog to compete in the AKC Beginner Novice class (heel, sit stay, down stay, recall, figure eight, long sit in middle). Dogs should already know basic obedience (heel, sit, stay, etc).


6pm   Beginning Nosework  ($85)   Cindy Jones 
Nose Work is a fun new sport that any dog can participate in. The dogs will learn the basics of identifying and alerting you to a scent hidden in a container. It's currently the fastest growing dog sport out there! Limit 6 dogs!

6:30pm      Therapy Dogs in the Real World ($85)    Cady Ness-Smith

This class prepares dog/handler teams for therapy dog testing and certification.  It will also cover skills needed for CGC and Community Canine.

    Weeks 1-5:  skills and knowledge for therapy dog certification and visits

    Week 6:  Love On A Leash therapy dog testing

    Dog Scout testing can be done at same time.

Requires Family Dog 1 or other basic obedience. Dogs must be at least 1 year old to be tested  Limit 8 dogs   


7pm   Competition Obedience Skills ($10 drop in)   Kim Cassida    
Handlers will learn how to polish and proof skills that are used in all levels of competition, such as fronts, finishes, the new position changes, heeling, jumping, retrieving, stays and more.  Individual exercises can be tailored to teams competing on all levels, from beginner novice to utility. Prerequisites: Dogs should be able to heel at a beginner level, come when called, and stay.
