The Obedience Training Club of Greater Lansing

The Obedience Training Club of Greater Lansing (OTCGL) is an AKC obedience club that offers classes for handlers participating in competitive canine sports, as well as the owners of a family dog who wish to train their dog in basic obedience.  Pet owners may find that they and their dog are enthusiastic about a particular sport and go on to compete.

Classes are held throughout the year and are usually 6 weeks in length, followed by a week off.  Not all classes are held each term.  Click here to see the current schedule!

Cost per 6 week class:
    Beginner classes:  $75.
    Advanced classes $85.
    Drop-in classes:  $10 each time.

Classes include:
    * Competition Obedience (AKC and UKC)
    *  Family Dog 1 and 2 (emphasis on basic obedience and behavior)
    * STAR Puppy
    *  Rally
    * Agility
    * Therapy Dog
    * Tricks
    * Nosework
    * Barn Hunt
    * Freestyle
    * Tracking

Some classes, especially beginner classes, have limited enrollment in order to offer individualized instruction.  Registration and payment is required to reserve a space in limited enrollment classes.

Drop-in classes are designed for individuals who already have basic knowledge or skills.  Instructors coordinate the class and answer questions, but may not be able to offer individual attention, especially if there is a large attendance.

Veterans and current military personnel receive a $10 discount on classes with a valid military ID.

Students wishing a refund for a class must request it by the end of the second class.

OTCGL also periodically offers Canine Good Citizen, therapy dog, and tricks testing.

If Lansing Public Schools are closed due to inclement weather, OTCGL day classes are also cancelled.  Evening classes will not be closed unless Lansing Public Schools cancels after school and evening activities.
